There was no terrorist threat from Iraq to the UK yet we went to war because of a ultra right wing president with a lower IQ then any other president in history for what regime change if so why pick Iraq , to get the oil or to be one up on his daddy.

I suppose it might be worth pointing out that good 'ole Saddam was responsible for two major conflicts in the Middle East - Iran-Iraq war (8 years, poison gas, chemicals etc), gassing of Kurds and Marsh Arabs and the invasion of Kuwait (Gulf 1).

The Afghan Taliban hosted their mates, Al-Quaeda, who killed 3,500 people in the 9/11 attacks. This was considered an attack against a NATO country and caused Clause 5 (collective defence) to be invoked for the first time as permitted under the UN Charter.

There is little indication that a withdrawal from Afghanistan would lessen terrorist attacks and every indication that they would increase.

As for Iraq (Gulf 2), it has to be said that the intelligence was faulty. But as Saddam's record for 30 years or so was littered with poison gas and chemical attacks on innocent civilians as well as troops (remember the concern that he would use gas during Gulf 1?), it was perhaps understandable that 'dodgy dossiers' were so easily believed.

Terrorists, including the IRA, take the view that they can shoot, bomb, maim and kill without warning or mercy but that if they are caught in the act it is wrong to shoot them even with warning and if arrested they think they should be allowed off a free house and other benefits and allowed to try again.

The scum should be shot on sight if seen with a weapon and if caught planning something locked up and then, if not born in the UK deported.
