Thanks JJ, but I will probably make the cellar my home until the end of the footie and until the weather cools down a bit.
Hi Choccy.
I have a large telly in he cellar but it only works on programmes like Time Team, Horizon and National Geographic. As soon as the word football is mentioned, it auto switches to another channel.

Morning from a hot and sunny Sevenoaks, Mrs S has me doing DIY all weekend, however I am hoping to negotiate a break to watch the GP. I dont think there is anything else on this weekend is there?
Went to see Keane in town last night, it was brilliant but extreemly hot, what little hair I have was soaking wet sweat was dripping everywhere. Probably too much information there !

Strictly classical music for me Spacie, rock is definitely not my scene.
I had an ancestor who came from Battle, not many people know that!

Good afternoon Socco, a few more will know now, perhaps open up new links.
Fancy not liking football! I am so fond of it I am laying a wood floor this afternoon:-)
Spacie I thought Keane was a......footballer, must have heard it on the tele sometime.

Good day all, been gardening earlier, before the sun got too hot. Had to trim the hedge before it took over the world.
Now comfortably esconced in the nice, cool cellar; far removed from all talk of world cups and such like. I made up a nice cool pitcher of Sangria earlier but it seems to have disappeared, anyone seen it anywhere?

Morning troops
Air con is on in here - thanks Opto :>)
So it's nice and comfortable for a cool drink and something to munch.
Interesing happening my son told me about that happened last night, one of those things that makes a good joke but it did actually happen.
Son has gone into off-licence to buy ciggies when this stilletto heeled, leather trouser clad, long black haired, made up person staggered in from the pavement and straight up the counter asking the bloke for ciggies on credit - he said no and told her to get out of the shop.
Shop owner then turned to my son and said "I'm fed up with it! He was in here earlier dressed as a man asking for the same thing!"
Enough to make any red blooded male shudder ;>)

Nice story Bunny, quite right of course, no-one in their right mind would give credit to a man on high heels.

Morning all.
Its been raining hard here in Hastings this morning.
A couple of weeks ago someone told me that some of the water authorities were not telling the truth about the water situation in the south and in particular southern water, apparently the daily mail stated that Bewl water was nearly full contrary to what their public statements were saying. So last night on the way back from Sevenoaks we called into Bewl Water for a cup of tea and guess what....
Its not full but it is much higher than it was last year at this time.. There could be sensible reasons for this (southern may be deliberately keeping it full and user other water first) and I am certainly not suggesting that we should be wasting water but it does seem to me that we are not hearing the whole story.

I just sneaked in for a quick lemonade at lunchtime since I was passing. Sorry I missed you last night Bunny, I had some urgent sleeping to do.
The red sea seems prominent again, I think I will just go back to sleep.
See you all at COP, bye for now.

Spaceman, see bar chart to left of
http://www.southernwater.co.uk/educationAndEnvironment/managingResources/regionalRainfall.asp. Also see
http://www.southeastwater.co.uk/reservoir_levels.asp.
The basic problem is not that there is a drought (and of course there isn't, drought means something very different in every other country in the world) but that the reservoirs are not enough to take us through a summer even if full at the beginning of the summer. Not much point bemoaning lack of rain if the reservoirs are full and there would be nowhere to put it if it came down.
