Used to live in Noordeinde in 1993 over the road from O'caseys, my missus is Haagse, we live in Utrecht now and I work in Maastricht. Utrechts the best city to live in by a mile!!

Kayak - 21 Jun 2006 10:29 - 10500 of 24230

I lived in Rotterdam and Eindhoven in 1980-1985, working for Logica at various clients, Philips/Shell/Gasunie...

I spent a week sailing in Loosdrecht when I was 15 ;)

I have only been to Utrecht once a couple of months ago it was very nice. Havant been to Rotterdam for about 20 years but I hear its a fun city these days. Often visit Amsterdam which I love. I keep meaning to drive over there so I can have a look around but I never seem to have time !

K, I work for one of those clients the one that also has a large office next to Waterloo. Where were you in NL for them?

Now its bright and sunny in Hastings!

In Rijswijk Spaceman... That was my first project, it was only a few months. Two of us were programming an HP tabletop mini to control experiments on the squeezing of rock samples and log the results on cartridge tape. I remember the coffee and tea trolley ladies and of course gebak when it was someone's birthday!

Lambykins, you want to take over Belgium? I always thought you were English!

I spent a fortnight in Leewarden as a guest of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht.

JStratford - 21 Jun 2006 17:36 - 10506 of 24230

Thought I'd just pop in and find that there's about 250 more pages since I was in here last time!

Anyway... HELP!!!

I'm in the middle of a rather boring research project on stock indices and I need two things:

1: Daily data on major indices going back to 1900
2: Intraday data on major indices going back as far as possible (at least 25 years)

If anyone can help on that (suggesting sites, or if you've collected the data yourself), then please let me know. And please don't point out the sites that want thousands for each data set! Remember this is a poor student speaking!

Thanks and hello to all old GD's regulars!
J.

Hi JS, nice to see you again.

JStratford - 21 Jun 2006 17:45 - 10508 of 24230

Hi Socs...
Anything exciting happened since last year?

Socrates - 21 Jun 2006 21:16 - 10509 of 24230

I bought some new socks!

Spaceman - 21 Jun 2006 22:03 - 10510 of 24230

Well done Socs, I bought a pair in about 2002.

jj50 - 22 Jun 2006 07:17 - 10511 of 24230

Morning all ... opens the windows at the thought of Spacey's old socks....

Orange juice, croissants et al and coffee brewing, kettle on.

Just had a couple of days in Cheltenham, Socs - warm enough but you could have arranged some sunshine for me though. All looking very nice :-)

Add my Cloggyland connection - used to over winter my boat in Medemblik, Contest based there. Also married in Belgium in Flemish.. always wanted to claim I hadn't understood what was going on but seems that was no defence;-)

stockbunny - 22 Jun 2006 11:49 - 10512 of 24230

Orange juice, tea, croissants, apricot jam and I'll start to feel post-shopping human again, what is it about the end of the week, people shop in droves and indecision is rife along with idiots who can't operate a self-service till - ok rant over, I'm off to read the papers! ;>)

Socrates - 22 Jun 2006 17:10 - 10513 of 24230

Oh dear, another quiet day. I suppose everyone is doing what "her indoors" is up to, Ladies Day at Ascot. It's OK for some. other poor souls like me have to work for a living.

I think I'll have a raid of the freezer and see if there is anything tasty in there.

KEAYDIAN - 22 Jun 2006 18:45 - 10514 of 24230

Quiet in here.

Any idea where the ash trays are kept?

stockbunny - 23 Jun 2006 09:42 - 10515 of 24230

Keaydian that is a sore point in here, it's a non smoking establishment apart from the smoking room upstairs and the back porch where yours truly tends to nip out for a quiet ciggie when things are quiet, so ashtrays in the main bar I'm afraid are no more, we've gone all politically correct ;>)

Spaceman - 23 Jun 2006 09:54 - 10516 of 24230

Morning bunny,

Keaydian, sorry about the no smoking rule but lambykins hates smoking and he owns the place ;-)

Nice bright and sunny day in Hastings. I am looking forward to the weekend after another boring week at work.

Next week I will be in Hamburg for 3 days, never been there I hear its nice, not that I will see much as it work related....

jeffmack - 23 Jun 2006 09:57 - 10517 of 24230
