........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

hi skids, something I don't understand is, this company has issued a lot of share throughout last year, doesn't it feed enough to the big buyer? moreover, even huge buy/small sell doesn't help to move the market any bit. Holding PXC for almost 2 years, getting me bored. Welcome any opinion. Many thanks.

I have been is this share for nearly two years now and have seen a string of buys that would put most Companies SP through the roof. I am talking 100 million plus. It doesn't seem to matter how many tips, good results or other good news is released, it just doesn't shift. Far too many shares in issue IMHO, but eventually it will have to move. Personally, I will hang on, but with hindsight, I wish I had never bothered. Much better value and opportunities elsewhere.

Thankyou for the advice Zscrooge, but I think I can make my own decision with little help from you. As I said, 'eventually it will have to move', just don't expect the raft of tips to make it do so. It certainly hasn't done so in the past.

Indeed - the PI hasn't the buying power to shift these. Instis and consolidation will help (6 months?) to shift the sp to where its turnover and profit deserve unlike other blue sky equities. Should be worth the wait and the taper relief!

I suspect it will move earlier than 6mths, but that is only IMO. PXC has been noticed now (about time), so something will happen soonish I imagine. I still think 12p is the short-term target, possibly by take-over!

Are the MM's playing games. A little tree shake to get rid of the short termers?

All they have done is move the spread from 8.9% to 3.1%

Very much doubt it, look back to the Autumn. Much bigger sells and buys and the SP continued quietly within its trading range.

Bid price unchanged as shares absorbed by the house broker. Draw your own conclusions.

May well be further Institutional buying (or selling). Same thing happened last year when Scottish Widows Investment Partnership purchased 70 mil shares, (Aug 04). It also took a considerable period of time before UBS AG accumulated their 421 mil shares (Nov 04). Therefore would not be surprised if this is a similiar situation. I rather hope that it is institution buying, it decreases the amount of shares effectively in issue and why shouldn't it be? PXC are now a profitable company and significantly underated. As always with PXC patience will be required!
