THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

I heard unofficially that the government may announce a u turn on EMA next week. It is not in the public domain as yet. It is the result of lobbying by Liberal backbenchers.

Fred1new - 02 Mar 2011 18:09 - 10680 of 81564

They have changed their "minds?" on nearly everything they promised so far. Why not EMA.

The Arthur Daley and and Delboy government is galloping from one ill thought out policy to another.

Remember the promises on Law and Order NHS.

If the idiots go into Libya I hope our brave souls Dave, Cleg and Del boy are in the front line.

What really happened when Elton John and David Furnish decided to have a baby.

They had their sperm mixed together and had a surrogate mother artificially inseminated with it.

When the baby was born Elton and David were waiting at the hospital.

They were ushered into a ward where a dozen babies were lying in their cots - eleven of whom were crying and screaming. Over in the corner, one baby was smiling serenely.

A nurse came over to both of them and indicated that the happy child was theirs.

"Isn't it wonderful?" Elton said to David. "All these unhappy babies... and yet our baby is so happy. This just proves the superiority of gay love!"

The nurse said, "Oh sure, he's looking happy now, but just watch what happens when I pull the thermometer out of his arse."

This_is_me,

I have reported you to the Gay Police for such a bum joke.

LOL

Good result from the Barnsley!

"Barnsley Central election result: Labour victory as Lib Dems and Tories humiliated by UKIP"

No waiting for usual response.

Bye election,

Reaction against the "ruling" party.

Tory and Lib sob stories.

The Libs must be happy with their prime minister Clegg.

Fred1new - 04 Mar 2011 08:39 - 10685 of 81564

Oh, forgot the usual one "low turnout".

It seems many old "tories" absconded to the UKIP to the party.

Wishy and washy have done well.

Dil - 04 Mar 2011 09:17 - 10686 of 81564

A lot of worried Libs this morning methinks.

Fred1new - 04 Mar 2011 09:23 - 10687 of 81564

I think Clegg is buying body armour.

Mind Cameron will have to watch it, as I have heard Farage is being "toted" as the next tory leader, with Cash as his hard man.

MightyMicro - 04 Mar 2011 18:03 - 10688 of 81564

So, Labour managed to hang on to a seat they've held since 1935. Wow. And the usual bye election anti-Govermnet protest vote went to UKIP. Amazing. *yawn*

I have two large cardboard box's filled up with contract notes from my broker , what do you do with them ? is it alright to shred them after a few weeks. Do brokers have to send them by law/rules or can they just email them ? it would be easy to save them if you had them by email.

Harry6 - 06 Mar 2011 11:06 - 10690 of 81564

No, dear, the taxman won't charge daddy less now but a man listening to the radio is coming round to punch you in the face.

aldwickk - 06 Mar 2011 19:25 - 10691 of 81564

Can you translate that cryptic reply ?

greekman - 07 Mar 2011 07:18 - 10692 of 81564

Hi Aldwick,

When I kept paper records, I kept them for 7 years as that is the advice HMRC used to give for anything where there 'might' be a tax charge. So even if it was to only prove that no tax was due, it meant keeping them for 7 years.
As to contracts via e-mail, that is now how my contracts are received. I would think that all decent brokers now use this system. Saying that I still keep my records for 7 years in hard copy (e-mail print offs) as I don't fully trust my e-mail contracts not to suddenly disappear, so the only real benefit is the speed that e-mail gives.
I am a bit technophobic so I am probably being far too cautious.

regards Greek.

Frampton - 07 Mar 2011 08:32 - 10694 of 81564

I'm with you Greek, abit of a technophobe, I print off all my email contract notes and keep them, 7 years like you say (though no doubt I've got a load of older ones as well).

niceonecyril - 07 Mar 2011 09:14 - 10695 of 81564

I've stopped using my Barclay card,a responce to the bomus and tax issues. In imo it's one way of telling them their conduct is unaccepable, alas we Brits just moan, being to lazy to take the any action.

My rant over.

If the conservatives are trying to lose the next election, they are going about it in the right way : Sellling off our beautiful forests, big society claptrap, giving the NHS money to doctors who have better things to do, and now the Libyan debacle.....I wish they would gag JC until the next election so he doesn't do anything, because they are going from one blunder to another over some issues....Osborne is doing a fine job in contrast !......big society with large fries or small fries ?...but fried still the same !...

Fred1new - 07 Mar 2011 12:14 - 10697 of 81564

It seems to me that Cameron has the wrong Willie!

Call me "Dave", being interviewed for a new star role in Johnny English film.

Willie is joining forces with P. Andrew with Vince as "Q".

Should be good if they remember their scripts.

Script provided by Cleggy and partners.

This_is_me - 07 Mar 2011 13:24 - 10698 of 81564

I keep all contract notes for all shares that I own and if I sell I keep them for another 10 years since I think that the tax people can now go back 10 years if they can come up with a 'reason' to do so.

The way I look at it is that if I keep them I will never need them but if I shred them I will need them the next day!

Are printed off notes regarded as cast iron evidence? What happens if your broker's records get trashed eg. they go bust or get their system hacked and wiped?
