For the moment most of the sparkle might have gone out of this one....by the end of january the sp should pick up again.....merry christmas everyone....

Balerboy - 24 Dec 2010 21:13 - 1083 of 3002

hlyeo98 - 26 Dec 2010 17:49 - 1085 of 3002

Let's see on Wednesday if XEL moves downwards and that may indicate whether the trend then. 330p is a good time to get in.

Proselenes - 27 Dec 2010 00:25 - 1086 of 3002

Wednesday ???? This week is holiday week, the markets are open but nobody is going to be playing.

Wed/Thu and half day Fri of this week is not going to indicate anything.

From Tuesday 2nd of January is where you can start to see the real market and real trends again.

Not just XEL, every stock that applies to.

cynic - 27 Dec 2010 08:05 - 1087 of 3002

what you say is true, but even if markets are thin and skittish, would be much happier to see some recovery than further reverses

totally off subject, i shall be very interested to see if ASC falls off its perch, notwithstanding that on-line purchasing continues to steal from traditional shopping

robstuff - 27 Dec 2010 12:42 - 1088 of 3002

"We should also remember that the BoD have steered XEL brilliantly and they deserve rewards for doing so" seen that wriiten so many times on these boards, every time sp plumets. Diretors selling is always my signal to get out so will be selling my remaining hdg Wednesday before the profit evaporates.

Proselenes - 27 Dec 2010 13:45 - 1089 of 3002

Yep, BPC directors sold at 6p, its now 16p a share not so many months later. Really scary stuff what director sales can do......... ;) LOL

There is something more interesting that I want to know. We all know that three directors sold a million shares each.

However, those same 3 directors also all have "Tranche 1" options to buy a million shares back at I think 80p each.

I guess they will do so and therefore the net effect will be they all have the same amount of shares when they take those options (expiry Nov 2012) but will in the meantime have a nice lump sum of cash to play with.

However, the question I want answered is who purchased the shares ? I have not seen the trades go through yet, which means they will be delayed reported, but also who purchased them ?

One guesses it was an institution that purchased the stock, but which one ? Some suggest Fidelity, but I would like to know, so we must await a holdings RNS to clear it up, or some other way.

cynic - 27 Dec 2010 14:30 - 1090 of 3002

you won't see anything unless that "institution's" holding has now risen above 3% - perhaps 5% - being the level at which it becomes a declarable interest

ptholden - 27 Dec 2010 19:31 - 1091 of 3002

I wouldn't have thought there was any need for institutions to buy those director shares; to take XEL forward the BoD will need to raise additional funds and consensus seems to be that will be achieved by a mixture of debt and equity. I'm not sure what the sequence of events is likely to be, but I'm guessing an updated CPR then announcement of fund raising, which will be at a discount to the current SP. I think that is the time for institutions to take a stake if they wish.

cynic - 27 Dec 2010 20:22 - 1092 of 3002

i concur, and it is also why i think that XEL's sp will be considerably higher at the time of that announcement

Balerboy - 27 Dec 2010 20:29 - 1093 of 3002

i take it your home after the xmas bash cyners,,

cynic - 27 Dec 2010 20:42 - 1094 of 3002

hi matey .... yes; drove home this morning and am now in need of a good rest! .... btw, many thanks for your kind chanukah wishes .... i trust you have neither burst pipes nor find yourself sheltering in a (melting) igloo

ptholden - 27 Dec 2010 21:14 - 1095 of 3002

Richard, assuming the CPR is in the process of being updated and assuming raising of finance will be partly addressed by issue of equity, it may be a fair assumption Institutions will have first sight of the CPR; in which case announcement of both could be simultaneous. I doubt the fund raising, indeed if there is one, will have much of a dilutive effect on the SP. If the BoD are their usual proactive selves, I would also anticipate news during the first week or two of January.

I'm still hoping for that gap to be filled to 320p at which time I'll have another go.

Proselenes - 28 Dec 2010 01:57 - 1096 of 3002

There does seem to be some confusion over the XEL directors options.

All three of the selling directors who sold a million have "Tranche-1" options awarded at the time of listing where they can buy 1 million shares each for 80.5 pence a share.

Please refer to page 13 of the Annual Report.

http://www.xcite-energy.com/docs/245003%20Annual%20Report_v6.pdf

Given their trades are as yet to be reported its highly likely a institution wanted a lump of XEL (possibly ahead of a future funding at a higher price) and offered to buy the stock from the 3 directors, and these 3 directors can easily replace the stock by taking their Tranche-1 options at 80.5p therefore netting them a rather nice New Year bonus without in effect losing any of their present stock holding level should they all exercise their Tranche-1 options.

hlyeo98 - 29 Dec 2010 11:11 - 1097 of 3002

349p now and falling... I'm waiting for 310-320p.

cynic - 29 Dec 2010 11:30 - 1098 of 3002

volume is very light, and for most of the time this morning, the spread has been 7/10p .... typical of MMs playing silly-buggers, but that is always going to be the problem with XEL until it becomes a SETS stock

by the way, does anyone know anything about NVTA?
i know it's a rare earth miner, which makes it potentially interesting, but that's all i know - and it's SETS
