Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Whilst I feel that something must and should be done to protect and assist those Libyans who appose Gaddafi, why is it yet again the UK taking the lead with assistance from France.
As this is mainly an Arab problem why is the lead not being taken by Bahrain and Egypt. Both have a large modern air force that could easily take care of the Libyan air force.
Egypt has the largest air force in the Arab world, with 550 modern aircraft.
Bahrain has 100 assorted aircraft with many very modern fighters.
Also there would be far less criticism of one Arab country on another Arab country.
Notice Germany and Italy do not want to become involved, so much for UN solidarity.
In any enforcement of a no-fly zone there will be so called collateral damage. I don't give it long until, we are yet again the bad guys, hated by both sides.
This will, I am sure come back to bite us.
Don't we ever learn.
Its about time the UK realised we are no longer the rich big uncle who can solve all problems.

Interesting price for dental work.
Wait for 6 years and see the price of emergency medical treatment and cold other surgery.
But privatisation is the way to go and medical schools are now asking for a degree in Business studies as a necessary qualification on application forms.
My dentist isn't doing very and can only afford to change his Mercedes and Porch on alternate years.

Just read this on Fox news.
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese engineers conceded on Friday that burying a crippled nuclear plant in sand and concrete may be a last resort to prevent a catastrophic radiation release, the method used to seal huge leakages from Chernobyl in 1986.
But they still hoped to solve the crisis by fixing a power cable to two reactors by Saturday to restart water pumps needed to cool overheating nuclear fuel rods. Workers also sprayed water on the No.3 reactor, the most critical of the plant's six.
It was the first time the facility operator had acknowledged burying the sprawling 40-year-old complex was possible, a sign that piecemeal actions such as dumping water from military helicopters or scrambling to restart cooling pumps may not work.

The power company, Tepco, has issued a statement today containing the following: "We would like to make our deep apologies for concern and nuisance about the incident of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and the leakage of radioactive substances to the people living in the surrounding area of the power station".
Concern & nuisance. bit of an understatement , sounds like someone as complained to the council about noisy neighbors...... it must have been how it came out in the translation.

Yes standard Japanese phrases at this time and direct translation. Fortunately looks like stablising now and damage is relatively limited considering.

They are very resilient people, you cannot help but admire their ability to pull together and get on with life. It was thought that us british had this same stoic ability at one time.

The 1940's British have been diluted by a foreign influx and old Labour destroyed comunites in the 1960's by building large council estates and tower blocks .

Although there is nodoubt some truth in what you say, I think it runs deeper than that. We,as a nation have lost our national pride. Politicians being thrown in prison for nicking the petty cash. Gangs and thugs roaming city streets.A police force that cannot cope with anymore than handing out fines to motorists, unless of course they get lucky! Big brother watching and recording our every move but never seems to capture the vital clue when some person goes missing. Every parent out there knows that our children respond to firm but fair handling. What hope have we got if the parents are worse than the offsprings?? Strong leadership, strong goverment, make for a strong country. To long do we divide our nation into ethnic groups, religious groups, Age groups, etc! There should be one group, British, We should swear allegiance to our country from birth to death. Anybody entering our country does so as a priviledge and should embrace our principals and swear the same oath. The only way for for this country to survive is to enjoy our differences but embrace our oneness. My thoughts only. I am sure there are many out there who will take me to task. But as an ancient old git who loves his country I rejoice in the fact that I can speak my mind. There are many out there who do not have this right.

Yes our country has been going downhill steadily aver the last 50 years.
A small help in reversing thjat trend might be to send Fred with a hammer and a screwdriver to work on the bust nuclear power station in Japan.

There'll always be an England,
While there's a country lane.
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street.
Wherever there's a turning wheel
A million marching feet.
Red, white and blue
What does it mean to you?
Surely you're proud
Shout it loud
Britons awake!
The Empire too
We can depend on you.
Freedom remains
These are the chains
Nothing can break.
There'll always be an England
And England shall be free
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.
