Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

They are very resilient people, you cannot help but admire their ability to pull together and get on with life. It was thought that us british had this same stoic ability at one time.

The 1940's British have been diluted by a foreign influx and old Labour destroyed comunites in the 1960's by building large council estates and tower blocks .

Although there is nodoubt some truth in what you say, I think it runs deeper than that. We,as a nation have lost our national pride. Politicians being thrown in prison for nicking the petty cash. Gangs and thugs roaming city streets.A police force that cannot cope with anymore than handing out fines to motorists, unless of course they get lucky! Big brother watching and recording our every move but never seems to capture the vital clue when some person goes missing. Every parent out there knows that our children respond to firm but fair handling. What hope have we got if the parents are worse than the offsprings?? Strong leadership, strong goverment, make for a strong country. To long do we divide our nation into ethnic groups, religious groups, Age groups, etc! There should be one group, British, We should swear allegiance to our country from birth to death. Anybody entering our country does so as a priviledge and should embrace our principals and swear the same oath. The only way for for this country to survive is to enjoy our differences but embrace our oneness. My thoughts only. I am sure there are many out there who will take me to task. But as an ancient old git who loves his country I rejoice in the fact that I can speak my mind. There are many out there who do not have this right.

Yes our country has been going downhill steadily aver the last 50 years.
A small help in reversing thjat trend might be to send Fred with a hammer and a screwdriver to work on the bust nuclear power station in Japan.

There'll always be an England,
While there's a country lane.
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street.
Wherever there's a turning wheel
A million marching feet.
Red, white and blue
What does it mean to you?
Surely you're proud
Shout it loud
Britons awake!
The Empire too
We can depend on you.
Freedom remains
These are the chains
Nothing can break.
There'll always be an England
And England shall be free
If England means as much to you
As England means to me.

Slower than forecast growth and lack of fiscal control could put AAA standing in doubt
By CFOWorld.co.uk | CFO UK | Published 11:20, 24 March 11
The credit rating agency Moodys has raised concerns about Britains AAA sovereign debt rating, suggesting that a relative lack of economic growth and slower than hoped fiscal consolidation could pose problems.
Forecasts for growth in the UK economy this year were trimmed by the governments independent Office for Budget Responsibility this week and by Moodys a little earlier in the piece, with the latter now stressing the importance of bringing down the deficit in a timely fashion.

Question:
How do you tell the difference between a British Police Officer, an Australian Police Officer and an American Police Officer?
Answer:
Pose the following question:
You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children.
Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges.
You are carrying a Glock .40, and you are a firearms-trained expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?
BRITISH POLICE OFFICER'S Answer :
Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!
Does the man look poor or oppressed?
Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
Could we run away?
What does my wife think?
What about the kids?
Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
What does the law say about this situation?
Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it?
Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?
Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
Should I call 999?
If I raise my gun and he turns and runs away, do I get blamed if he falls over, knocks his head and kills himself? .
If I shoot him, and I lose the court case, does he have the opportunity to sue me, cost me my job, my credibility and the loss of my family home?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUSTRALIAN OFFICER'S Answer:
BANG!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMERICAN OFFICER'S Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! 'click'....
Daughter: 'Nice grouping, Dad! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips?'
AND WHAT DOES THIS STORY TELL US ABOUT THE STATE OF BRITAIN TODAY? ................
WE CAN DO NOTHING! WE CAN SAY NOTHING! WE ARE ......... NOTHING!
OUR BRITISH WAY OF LIFE IS NO MORE IT HAS DISINTEGRATED.
WE CANNOT BE OURSELVES AS WE USED TO BE BEFORE BRUSSELS.
WE HAVE BEEN PUT DOWN AND DROWNED BY HUMAN RIGHTS LEGISLATION ... SILLY LEGISLATION.
WHITE IS BECOMING THE MINORITY IN OUR OWN LAND.
CHRISTIANITY IS BECOMING THE MINORITY IN OUR OWN LAND.
WE WALK ON EGGSHELLS FOR FEAR OF OFFENDING OTHERS IN OUR OWN LAND.
THE GOOD, HONEST, UPRIGHT CITIZENS HAVE LITTLE OR NO RIGHTS
THE BAD, DISHONEST COWARDS IN OUR SOCIETY HAVE ALL THE RIGHTS.
WHAT CAN WE DO? WHAT CAN WE DO? WHAT ARE WE TO DO?

This is me,
Is your post far fetched. Nah.
OK perhaps just a bit.
As a police trained firearms officer (now retired thank goodness) you would not believe just how restricted we were then and it must be far worse now.
