Cynic,

Looks like your faith in VOG is about to be rewarded.....with a good price rise at least! IMO.

Strawbs

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 13:25 - 1086 of 2511

indeed ... whatever next? ..... probably slump by 40p as RNS re 103 comes in as dud!

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 13:27 - 1087 of 2511

You need to be less.....errrr....cynical. :-)

Strawbs.

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 14:18 - 1088 of 2511

no RNS but BIG move ..... now 84 mid

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 14:22 - 1089 of 2511

Probably one of the five rules of price moves:

Somebody knows something.
Somebody thinks they know something.
Somebody knows nothing, but thinks if everyone thinks they know something, something will go up.
Everyone thinks that somebody must know something, but know nothing.
This somebody hasn't a clue........

WOODIE - 11 Aug 2006 14:22 - 1090 of 2511

trades almost even why the big rise today?

alinox - 11 Aug 2006 14:30 - 1091 of 2511

SHORT RECOVER

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 14:33 - 1092 of 2511

do i take it that you are short of these then? .... one of Strawbs rules is more likely

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 14:46 - 1093 of 2511

Probably number 3, also known as The rampers charter.

I notice EME is up too.

Maybe it's just short covering on some of these recently beaten up stocks. Who knows.....

Strawbs.

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 14:58 - 1094 of 2511

perhaps on EME, though I would certainly not put my money there (nor RPT despite its recent rise) ...... However, VOG first hit 80 about 4 weeks ago and is really only now showing any recovery ...... imo, #2 is the most likely followed by #4 and then #1.

Actually, more likely to be that a load of peeps have suddenly remembered that the report on Well 103 is imminent, whatever that may bring.

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 15:01 - 1095 of 2511

You could be right. As ever though, the private investor will be the last to know....

Might be worth looking for some big trades after the bell too....

WOODIE - 11 Aug 2006 15:48 - 1096 of 2511

someone posted yesterday there was a big buyer in the background i wonder if he was talking about today?

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 15:51 - 1097 of 2511

probably from devalued ADVFN! .... so how big is big? ...... 50k shares? ...... nah! 250k is not even that big a number

new boy - 11 Aug 2006 15:56 - 1098 of 2511

Hope everyone enjoyed today, more to come imo.

WOODIE - 11 Aug 2006 16:21 - 1099 of 2511

new boy cant see any big buys? when are they going to show?

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 16:26 - 1100 of 2511

Woodie,

If I read it right. The sells are going to someone on the order book, so a large number of the sells are in fact buys. e.g. Someone is placing orders to "buy" blocks of stock, and others are selling to that buyer. Hope that makes some kind of sense.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:28 - 1101 of 2511

I'd just like to say that I too haven't got a clue what's going on . . .

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:31 - 1102 of 2511

But in the interests of our mutual enlightenment I am prepared to advance one daft theory and to be shot down in flames for it until somebody comes up with one that is dafter.

EOG has also advanced today, by over 10%, also for no apparent reason.

Could it be that there has been a spike in the gas price?

WOODIE - 11 Aug 2006 16:33 - 1103 of 2511

strawbs thanks

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 16:35 - 1104 of 2511

first a caveat that at close of biz, prices can do some very strange things ...... That said, barely a minute before close, sp bolted to 91 and has stayed there after the close .....but still no announcement of any kind and really not particularly heavy volume today.
