PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS - TIPPED FOR 2004 (PXC)

moneyman - 03 Jan 2004 20:03

Tipped by the independent 2/01/2004

........."And so to our traditional "wild card". Pipex Communications, formerly known as GX Networks, is a telecoms company created by one of the entrepreneurs behind Ukbetting, Peter Dubens. It has been assembled from six smaller players. The ambitious company is generating cash for the first time but is still not widely followed in the City. It could be an undiscovered gem".

May well be further Institutional buying (or selling). Same thing happened last year when Scottish Widows Investment Partnership purchased 70 mil shares, (Aug 04). It also took a considerable period of time before UBS AG accumulated their 421 mil shares (Nov 04). Therefore would not be surprised if this is a similiar situation. I rather hope that it is institution buying, it decreases the amount of shares effectively in issue and why shouldn't it be? PXC are now a profitable company and significantly underated. As always with PXC patience will be required!

Regards

PTH

Sigh. It's no longer patience that I'm using with PXC. It's stoicism.

skyhigh - 15 Apr 2005 11:13 - 1088 of 1874

Well, whatever stoicism is - I'll have some of it as well.
Very disappointed with the sp this week on the back of good results and "buy" recs. However, sp has remained fairly level when lots of other company share prices have gone down and for no good reason.
Going to keep holding these and top up when I can.....

israelgold - 15 Apr 2005 11:17 - 1089 of 1874

maybe pipex should reduce the size of shares on the basis that there is too many shares in the company

Orrill - 15 Apr 2005 13:30 - 1090 of 1874

I used to have trouble sleeping until I brought this stock.

Troys - 15 Apr 2005 15:30 - 1091 of 1874

Do we get the late run of large volume trades today?

skids - 15 Apr 2005 16:27 - 1092 of 1874

This all helps Skids

Troys - 15 Apr 2005 16:34 - 1094 of 1874

Now the action is starting as predicted. Wish I knew more

skids - 15 Apr 2005 16:34 - 1095 of 1874

Yep. I believe the 12p target is realistic in the short term, but this is IMO. As always time will tell.

Worth waiting for I think.

zscrooge - 15 Apr 2005 21:18 - 1096 of 1874

Curious. We have roughly 80 million sells and the bid price holds up. Hmmmmmmm.

Mr Mole - 16 Apr 2005 08:14 - 1097 of 1874

Arrived home last night and The Week (the best of week's press nationally and internationally) had flopped on the mat. In their shares section Pipex were tipped by The Independent last week and by virtue of the fact that it was in The Week means that it was effectively tipped again. Huge amount of shares traded this week and price held up yesterday in a grim small caps market. Something's afoot methinks!

Troys - 18 Apr 2005 22:18 - 1098 of 1874

Lets hope for better things tomorrow.Only 9m traded today. No late trades!!! LOL

FULHAM FC AGREE SPONSORSHIP DEAL WITH PIPEX COMMUNICATIONS PLC

Fulham Football Club has today announced a major new sponsorship deal with PIPEX
which will see the Internet Service Provider's logo on the famous black and
white shirts for two years. PIPEX is the Official Main Sponsor for the 2005/
2006 and 2006/2007 Premiership Seasons as well as becoming the exclusive
Broadband Partner of Fulham Football Club.

As the UK's first commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP), PIPEX has been a
market leader for over a decade. It was the first ISP to bring the Internet to
UK businesses and provided the first fully featured web community, enabling
customers to create and promote their own websites. In addition, PIPEX is the
5th largest provider in the UK, and the PIPEX group provides internet-based
services to over 420,000 customers - both corporate and consumer.

Mohamed Al Fayed, Chairman of Fulham Football Club, commented:

'The Club is very excited about the sponsorship agreement with PIPEX, a brand
that is a sustained market leader in its field which has committed its support
to Fulham for two seasons. Since I invested in this Club we have risen from the
second division to consistently perform against the elite that English football
has to offer. It is my aim to maintain this status and I am always happy to be
involved with brands that share my drive and passion. I am sure that it will be
a very successful combination between two ambitious organisations and believe
that PIPEX is the right choice of partner for us'.

Peter Dubens, Chairman of PIPEX added:

'PIPEX is delighted to confirm this new two-year deal with Fulham FC, working
together until the end of the 2006/2007 season. We are proud to have the chance
to sponsor such a long standing icon of football.

PIPEX continues to grow its customer base across all areas of its product range,
broadband, hosting and network services and we see the sponsorship of Fulham as
an opportunity to create further awareness of our growing brand.'

David McNally, Commercial Director at Fulham Football Club said:

'This sponsorship agreement is great news for the Club in its direct relation to
the Chairman's vision of long term commercial viability. As the biggest deal in
the Club's history this is a clear milestone in the pursuit of becoming a
financially stable business and it is my aim, along with the board, to continue
to drive the commercial side of the business to maximise on its potential and to
support the on-pitch activity, which is obviously the most important aspect of
any football club.'

Do we perhaps see this as an advantage or a disadvantage to shareholders - Fulham could well be fighting relegation next year

Troys - 19 Apr 2005 09:48 - 1102 of 1874

PXC must be making more than we think!!!

sidtrix - 19 Apr 2005 09:52 - 1103 of 1874

I think it might be in the contract that if they are relegated then the sponsorhip is off... makes sense???

I think pipex will do quite well with the publicity and exposure from being associated with a Premiership team and will get the market thinking a bit!!!

skids - 19 Apr 2005 11:07 - 1104 of 1874

I see it as a very good sign.

deadfred - 19 Apr 2005 14:14 - 1105 of 1874

i think they might have shot there own foot here

never mind the sponsorship

imho the teams owner does not really get on with the higher archy of this country this might be a negative deal imho

i hope not but there are a lot of snobs in charge of companies here who might not like offending the royalist brigade

just an opinion as far as im conserned gonads to them
