THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Man dies from severe burns in incident at lake

Published on Monday 30 May 2011 09:34

A MAN has died after suffering severe burns while in Delapre Abbey Park in Northampton.

Police and emergency medical helicopters were called to the lake near Ransome Road at 7.20pm on Friday.

A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital by land ambulance but died on arrival.

Police said they were not treating the death as suspicious and were conducting investigations on behalf of the coroner.

Comment:

I often go for a walk round this local lake and its vicinity. There is lovely short grass to sit on and big trees offering a bit of shade if it gets a bit hot.

Although there are notices discouraging it, placed there by the local water ski club who lease the lake for their water sports, it looks easy and inviting to swim in the lake too. There are the ski clubs old jetties to dive off and the water, where it's near to the edges can be seen to be clean and clear.

Obviously, it's quite popular and a great place to barbecue with one's friends and family because there are also picnic benches about too.

I wonder if this incident was also a 'petrol at the barbecue' incident and what happened was similar to the burn incident, which Mr Euro, a MAM user on this board, got himself involved in a few years ago?

E. coli outbreak in Germany: Women more affected

One of the mysteries about the outbreak of the particularly vicious strain of E. coli is that most of the victims have been women.

In most outbreaks, the victims are children because they have not developed the immune system to fight off the food poisoning - but in the German case, it is adults and female adults, in particular.

Scientists simply do not know why.

Penguin huddle secrets revealed with time lapse footage

The mystery of how penguins stay warm while they huddle has been revealed by an international team of scientists.

Emperor penguins survive the tough Antarctic winters by forming tightly packed clusters - but scientists have pondered how penguins on the outside stay as cosy as those in the centre.

Now time lapse video shows the birds move in almost imperceptible waves through the group, which over time drastically change its structure.

Bet they win.

UK-based bookmaker Betfred has been chosen to buy the Tote after an auction process that began in November.

BBC business editor Robert Peston said Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt had chosen Betfred although the deal had not been completed, with some technicalities still being sorted out.

The price is not yet known but Betfred is thought to have bid about 200m.

An old guy (not in the best of shape) was working out in the gym when he spotted a sweet young thing.

He asked the trainer who was nearby, "What machine in here should I use to impress that sweet thing over there?"

The trainer looked him up and down and said, "I would try the ATM in the lobby."

From another board, but may apply here, just watch out, as the number of 'new posters' is increasing. When weak holders go, the MM's have a more difficult time IMO, so let the weak ones sell, then experienced investors will buy in. IMO.,

Periodically over the past couple of years we have been infiltrated by ostensibly genuine newbies raising seemingly genuine initial queries and subsequently casting doubts and aspersions; in somes cases progressing to libelous statements. Watch out for newbies suggesting you are backing a wrong'un, it could be one of these guys:

Gene Savin My Apology.Confessions of a Basher
Friday, June 3, 2011 at 09:48AM
Yes I am the notorious Gene Savin. And I am here to make a personal apology to all of the company's I have ever posted disparaging remarks on. First let me begin by apologising to Nighthawk,Nostra terra it was completely uncalled for I would also like to apologise to the wider online community who use the internet Please accept my whole-hearted apology.

Now my confession begins. I was employed as a stock-basher on Interactive,LSE, and most of the main chat sites. I rue the day I ever became involved. I just did not realise how much it would effect my life.

We operated in a team of six using 3/4 screennames on every site. At first we would join the sites then slowly but surely become trusted by the communities we did this using a variety of means ticking up other posts and agreeing with the main posters on any one site. Of course we also ticked each other up. One of the best ways to earn the kudos of the boards was to continually cut'n'paste information found online regarding any one stock it didn't matter where it came from. This method was proven in past escapades to increase our popularity. You can see it occurring now on INTERACTIVE/ADVFN We would post as much as 200/300 articles per day the more the better this guaranteed that our online presence was seen and read by all. Once we had achieved trusted status amongst the site users we would then set about attacking any poster that threatened to undermine our credibility after all we needed people to believe in us any one posting a contrary view was attacked by the team and as always other genuine posters would join in kind of like a pavlovian response. We controled the herd mentality thus we controled the investors. Then we would slowly change the sentiment on a stock of course we would be shorting the said stock and when it went as low as we could get it we would then go long on it knowing that after we ceased our attack the stock would increase as a matter of common sense. So thats basically how we did it. I get asked many times are there still members of the team online operating. Well of course there is. They have reinvented themselves using different screen names such as Trotysmac,SpikeyDT and anthracite on iii and one or two others these are now working the Grift building up their reps. Billybowdon, pete tongu on advfn doing just the same. It was so easy because theres no moderation and subscription is totally free.

I hope this confession goes some way to explaining why i did what I did. It was greed and the buzz of power controlling hundreds of investors with-out their knowledge. There's lots of Bashing/rampers out there to this day the worst site is Interactive Investor it's rotten with them.

noc
thats a good post of yours, it might be better if it had been posted to the talk to everyone post. unfortunately we dont have one. so i suppose this is as good as you could do.not sure he is absolutely truthful but then i dont know his history and have never read any of his posts. maybe he is just trying to warn everyone that it happens?
and i believe it does. i could be wrong of course.
anyway anyone who follows charts rather than relying solely on fundamenatals wouldnt or shouldnt be influenced by what is said on any blog but only by what is done,i.e.the analysis of price movement.it simply cuts out and negates all these guys.
as always just my opinion.

CERN physicists trap antihydrogen atoms for more than 16 minutes

"We've trapped antihydrogen atoms for as long as 1,000 seconds, which is forever" in the world of high-energy particle physics, said Joel Fajans, UC Berkeley professor of physics, faculty scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a member of the ALPHA (Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus) experiment at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

I am one of many who have multiple posters on Ignore/Squelch.
I also like many do not put these people on ignore/squelch just because they disagree with my views or are negative when I am positive or visa versa.
I put them on ignore because they are either personally insulting to others, post buy buy buy, sell sell sell and other useless drivel or just because they post total meaningless rubbish.
The biggest problem I then have are from those who continue to answer such rubbish (we all know of one on here).
Still some people will always rise to the bait, which is what stops these people fading into the ether.

Well Greek is a bit of a baster !

Back from wanderings around France.

Amazed to see the amount of money that the government is ploughing into the infrastructure to maintain economy and preparing for any future uprise in the "world economy" and at the same time reduce their unemployment and booste it to a certain degree.

Interesting to opinions of many French and other europeans on UK problems. Mind wiith continuing devaluation of the Sterling against the Euro it is failrly obvious what the general opinion of Geogie's economic revival will be.

But, this morning it was nice to hear George bleating away again, defending his economic non policies.

IMF says no changes are needed to UK economic policy

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13668574

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has concluded that no changes are needed to UK economic policy.

It said weak economic growth and rising inflation had been "unexpected", but that they were "largely temporary".

But its annual report warned that "there are significant risks to inflation, growth and unemployment", which may need a policy response.

It predicted the UK economy would grow 1.5% in 2011, down from its forecast of 1.7% in April and 2% in November 2010.

But it maintained its medium-term forecast at 2.5%.

Fred1new - 06 Jun 2011 16:17 - 10992 of 81564

It seems the IMF are happy to have UK's economy to steer on to the rocks.

Growth down, gross income down unemployment up.

But suggestions of tax cuts on the way.

Bonkers.

Hays,

You and I are "temporary".

Sometimes temporary is a hell of a long time.

If I had a "small holding and had an increase in the number of dependants it needed to support I wouldn't rest half of the employees, I would employ them to produce more for all.
