BRW This is motoring (BRW)

Fred1new - 14 Jan 2005 13:52

queen1 - 26 Jan 2005 19:53 - 11 of 30

Guess it must be sector consolidation speculation re the other news today.

Fred1new - 27 Jan 2005 17:25 - 12 of 30

Slipped back a litte to-day. Should be up morrow.

Fred1new - 02 Feb 2005 14:03 - 13 of 30

Queen1,

I have bought a few more BRW. May be wrong, hope not.

Reasons as below!!!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
ISA update,

Sold BPK at 6% loss.

Bought another tranche of BRW at 131.8p on drop of 4%.

Earlier quite a lot of buying with no price movement followed by balance of selling.

I think drop is due to the following;-
***********
Brewin Dolphin director IB Speke sells shares
AFX

LONDON (AFX) - Brewin Dolphin Holdings PLC said director IB Speke has sold 80,000 ordinary shares in the company at 133 pence each.

He now holds 352,622 shares.

************************************

Bought on overall trend and

2004 2005 2006
Earnings per share (EPS) (in BPC)
5.58 7.48 8.50
Price earnings ratio
23.58 17.58 15.47

EBITDA (in Mio. GBP)
17.45 24.00 27.00
Net debt (in Mio. GBP)** n/a n/a n/a

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Reason for selling BPK.

I think over time this company will do well, but will be quite slow, trading volume are small and interest seems luke warm.

I know trend has been up and good for last month but I think is slipping back since going Xdiv. Intend keeping Eye on it for future.

Fred1new - thanks for that - it's always good to get someone else's thinking on your own holdings. Personally I thought these would motor this week following news of some consolidation in the sector but perhaps they are just biding their time before the next leg up: there don't seem to be any obstacles to 2 if I'm reading it right.

Fred1new - 03 Feb 2005 00:45 - 15 of 30

Lets get past 150p, and then reconsider. If it does jump the 150 barrier should hit your 200p. over the next 6mths,. One thing which may effect it is if interest rates go up or not.

queen1 - 03 Feb 2005 23:34 - 16 of 30

Maybe although I get the feeling that the consensus on iterest rates is that they will be lower by the end of the year than they are now.

Fred1new - 04 Feb 2005 14:21 - 17 of 30

Q1 What do you think. It seems to be misbehaving on small volumes. Still well within normal trend lines, but would be nice to see some lage buys.

queen1 - 04 Feb 2005 15:19 - 18 of 30

My thinking is that this is marking time, pausing for breath. However, if it drops below 115p I'm not sure we'll see your 150p, let alone my 200p for quite some time. Still, quite away off that at present.

Fred1new - 08 Feb 2005 17:29 - 19 of 30

Interesting day. I was cursing for not jumping overboard at 140p, but looking at the b/s and good volume buys at the bell to-day I would expect it to rise substantially tomorrow.

Watch with TLC.

queen1 - 08 Feb 2005 17:31 - 20 of 30

Fingers crossed!

Fred1new - 08 Mar 2005 18:21 - 21 of 30

Q1 are you still holding these. Been a little miserable for a few weeks. Haven't seen any background reasons for this other than one director selling a small holdings weeks ago.

But if I am reaing the charts properly looks like an exhaustion gap, just wondering if it will resume up trend.

Thoughts.

queen1 - 09 Mar 2005 13:30 - 22 of 30

Hi Fred1new - I hate to say it but I've sold up and moved on. I felt there was better value for my money elsewhere (SYM & VTI...was feeling all green and eco-friendly). Good luck to you for the journey.

Fred1new - 09 Mar 2005 15:06 - 23 of 30

Thanks I regret not having sold at recent high. But reviewing the FD and news I think it will recover shortly. But I think you were wise.

queen1 - 09 Mar 2005 17:37 - 24 of 30

Cheers, all the best. Perhaps we'll meet in cyberspace again, discussing the merits of another company sometime in the future. Best of luck!

Fred1new - 08 Aug 2005 16:05 - 25 of 30

I am still holding BRW at a good profit but getting a little bit fed up with doing so. It is not the brightest star in the market. No bad news no good news. Yield about 3.6.. Not showing any sign to Viagra. Feel like dumping and taking profit. any arguments. If I do so I bet the next day it will spike.

hewittalan6 - 16 Sep 2005 10:12 - 26 of 30

Well I still hold this one and am showing very big gains on it. Just seen a 100k buy go through at full ask. Big buy for such a low profile stock. Something in the breeze????

hewittalan6 - 03 Nov 2005 15:05 - 27 of 30

Talking to myself again but what is happening with this one. Anyone know?
Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted with the performance over the last few weeks but it would be lovely to know why the sudden upturn.

Ah. I have the answer now. More M&A rumours. I'll just sit tight and enjoy the ride.
