first a caveat that at close of biz, prices can do some very strange things ...... That said, barely a minute before close, sp bolted to 91 and has stayed there after the close .....but still no announcement of any kind and really not particularly heavy volume today.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:36 - 1105 of 2511

I may have a point - looking at a graph of Henry Hub Gas on oilbarrel.com, there is a rise of about 80 cents (over 10%) in recent days. It's also up about $2 since mid-July.

Any thoughts?

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 16:38 - 1106 of 2511

I'm starting to wonder if it's a "gas leak"........

And no. I haven't a clue. But a 33% rise in just over half a day is a little crazy. Surely VOG are obliged to make some kind of announcement, even if it's the "We have no idea why the price has risen" one.

In my opinion anyway......

Strawbs.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:40 - 1107 of 2511

An announcement won't come until Monday, IMO.

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 16:42 - 1108 of 2511

Strawbs ..... only 33% if last second bolt proves to be a "real" price when markets open on Monday, and as i said, no great volume - barely 50% more than norm for last 3 months

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:43 - 1109 of 2511

Cynic, to a point the price lies in the hand of the MM - if they think the stock is worth more all of a sudden . . . .

. . . but why would they think that?

I love riddles.

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:44 - 1110 of 2511

PS - seen GOO?

Strawbs - 11 Aug 2006 16:45 - 1111 of 2511

Cynic,

I suppose low volumes could be giving a false impression. Appologies for criticising your re-investment in VOG earlier in the week. Seems to have been very well timed!

Strawbs.

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 16:49 - 1112 of 2511

Strawbs..... would have been better still had I bought, or even bought more at 68 .... lol! ..... pure luck, and you know it too.

Soul* ..... not only saw GOO but bought some more today at 8.25 ..... still only bet a few roof slates on the stock though! ..... Also bought TLW (Tullow), though that is in a rather different league

soul traders - 11 Aug 2006 16:52 - 1113 of 2511

Cynic, I am kicking myself now for not doing more homework on GOO - still if they really are about to go public with 100 mil's of bbls then there will be more action to come.

Looks like I'm going to have a busy Saturday researching.

georgetrio - 11 Aug 2006 17:22 - 1114 of 2511

soul traders
no need to kick yourself but if you can still catch the boat, do so if you want to.
i think goo will reach 12p very soon or even 16p. the rise to 12p will be followed by a bit of profit taking which is normal. then the second rise. now it will become a bit tricky as some will sell big time creating another opportunity to buy.
however, long term investor will be rewarded wathever alfa or beta. best luck but feel free to let us know if we are right or wrong after your homework

cynic - 11 Aug 2006 17:36 - 1115 of 2511

george .... what is the logic and basis for predicting (a) 12p and (b) 16p?

georgetrio - 11 Aug 2006 18:26 - 1116 of 2511

cynic

the first and easy answer is: wait and see but ihave done a lot of homework on goo
and i may say that i am a bit fanatical. however saying 12p or 16p is being very conservative. putting that caution away, i can put 25p on goo. this answer may not satisfy many but as i said wait and see.
DO not understimate what GOO can do. BEST luck

lizard - 11 Aug 2006 19:32 - 1117 of 2511

would have thought vog and goo were doing a jv -mirrored sp fluctuations all afternoon. no chance of this happening though.

candolim - 12 Aug 2006 08:51 - 1119 of 2511

looks live vog on the move again need to get to 1.59 to break even. May get there soon. All its takes is some good news, like lizard said in an earlier thread this can come at any time.

Victoria Oil & Gas, recently hit by drilling disappointments at its West Medvezhye field, gained 23p to 92p on word it is close to making an acquisition in Siberia

candolim - 12 Aug 2006 08:59 - 1121 of 2511

thanks for the news batteryman, I was wondering why we had such a large increase on the day.

soul traders - 12 Aug 2006 11:52 - 1122 of 2511

Good post, Batteryman! Acquisitions in Siberia are, IMHO, a Good Thing.

WOODIE - 12 Aug 2006 11:55 - 1123 of 2511
