Hi all
pretty new to all this. I have pumped some into Deltex - looks like a strong product with good growth. Could be a steady gainer.
Does anyone else have this, and anyone have some research on it? Someone with more experience than me!
thanks in advance.

I agree with these sentiments.
I also bought the stock in good faith, but with hindsight (what a wonderful thing!) everytime the share was mentioned some goon from Charles Stanley was available to highlight the growth potential. Like it's not in their interest to talk the stock up!
A broader spectrum of opinion is needed before I invest again in a shares 'Play of the Week'.

Feeling very sore this morning to see it rise of the florr where I finally sold out yesterday!
Watching to see what happens today.
Will this buck the trend and rise strongly on results next Tuesday - or is there more bad sentiment to be washed out of the SP - if the latter I sahll endeavour to buy in lower next week.
Tail between legs!

Trouble is that those irresponsible people in Shares Mag state in issue 10 March " Deltex hopes to clinch sales of its cardiac monitoring products to NHS hospitals but there are plenty of competing devices which seem to have brighter prospects." If that were true, and it seems unlikely, then why did Shares Mag not say so when they made Deltex a "Play of the Week" I dont believe a word and I am staying - remember this is the NHS we are dealing with !!!!

Good luck Oakapples - wish I'd held on for that extra 15 minutes to see the price lift again, but a stop loss is a stop loss and on average it is the correct thing to do to stick to it. Unfortunately, for me this reduced my average this time round.
No mention in RHPSG email update today either where I was rather hoping to find inspiration.
Ah well, older and wiser - go the SEO!

It's not the first time Shares mag has recommended something, then trashed it later. Examples: earthport(EPO), Polaron(POL), Adastra minerals(AAA was AMF), As Seen On Screen (ASOS). Situations change, market sentiment changes, prices go up and down.
EPO is particularly amusing since a member of Shares mag holds a lot of their shares. I wonder what sort of internal pain Shares mag suffered to write a SELL note for EPO. On second thoughts, not quite so amusing since I also have a lot of EPO shares.
The bottom line is that we all take responsibility for our own share-dealing decisions. In the last year I may have seen a hundred plays of the week (2 every week) and have bought maybe four of them. I chose to buy DEMG on long-term considerations and I chose to ignore Shares's current SELL note because that was based on short-term considerations, i.e. the current price. I may be right and I may be wrong but I don't believe in blindly following someone else's recommendations. I've bought and sold because I've chosen to so I accept the consequences.

I'm going to sit on the fence as i agree with both Arf Dysg and Oakapples142 to some extent. Deltex is the only share I have followed blindly and I have learnt my lesson.
I know with the magazine there is a balance between sensationalism and caution considering they are ultimately trying to add value to it - and sell more copies. However, in the Deltex example there were three occasions (it has only featured four times in the last 6 months) when someone from only Charles Stanley were offering an opinion on the stock. Shares magazine, in my view, have paradoxically made the same mistake as me, and therefore have been negligent in making it a Play of the Week.

As someone who got lucky!!! and got out a few weeks ago with small loss I feel that Shares mag was right to tip it, wrong not advise to get out at the first warning but right to advise sell now. I have to say we are all responsible for our own decisions and we should learn from our own mistakes. At least Shares tips some good smaller companies, all IC does is the steady eddies that cost loads each. Thats why I have subscription to Shares and not IC having bought both first. As a small investor I appreciate these opportunites and tips for smaller companies but we must buy on our own research and these bb's add to that. As for the recommendation on Deltex, we'd all be OK had a deal been struck but with our inept government and NHS perhaps we should have known there would be delays. I also think right to advise sell ASOS now until they have the business model for expansion correct, those who bought on the buy tip have done very well. As for Deltex, we all know the potential, keep them on your watchlist, if the deals start to happen the potential is still huge and what it needs is momentum. Good Luck.

So my friends, advise me. How low will the SP go on the results published today wihch still show no real progress on sales during 2004.
I still like the story very much, but I am hoping sentiment will drag them down to a price I can buy in again at with dignity - like 15.5p offer would be a perfect no loss reentry.
What am I bid to ease my troubled mind?

SP will drift down gradually (although not by much). Would hope to see some sales coming through slowly after the new financial year starts and during spring/summer. If we get some major deals announced then SP should shoot up,, but I'm not banking on it...I'm putting these on the back burner. Lets see how it goes..

Thanks skyhigh. I'd like to be back in, and am prepared to pay a little for my lack of faith last week. Just trying to play the game to the limit, wanting the best price. Also my canine ego would swell with uncontrollable pride if I was totally vindicated and the SP fell to its next support level (12p??) - only for the 60 seconds it would take me to get my buy in, then up again to new heights, of course.
Let's hope the doctors can persuade the politicians to tell the adminstrators to . . .

I got out early this morning at 19.12p but will be back if it drops to 16.5p.
Furthermore I have off loaded two other "health" stocks which have been giving me stress.

DEMG is on my watchlist, providing DEMG'smoney doesn't run out before some deals this is a good buying price but I'm waiting for now. Plenty of chance to get in below 20p when the time is right.

I have been reflecting on the following passage from the results:
Developments at these twenty hospitals since 31 December 2004 are:
* A partial order has been received from one hospital, with the balance
deferred until the hospital's new financial year.
* The internal business case has been approved at two hospitals and we have
been informed that the orders are pending.
* Local audits are underway in respect of three hospitals, with all feedback
to date being positive; sales orders are contingent on the results of these
audits.
* We are awaiting initial orders from three hospitals who have agreed to
purchase initial monitors and to undertake local audits with a view to then
acquiring further monitors.
* Proposals for local audits using loaned equipment are under discussion
with four hospitals.
* Business cases submitted to senior managers at four hospitals have been
very well received, but no final decision has yet been taken.
* Recently introduced total bans on any new expenditure have stalled
progress at two hospitals.
* Progress at one hospital has been delayed pending publication later in
2005 of the results of a clinical trial of the CardioQ in bowel surgery,
which are expected to be highly supportive.
From this it seems clear that the completion of a local audit process is a key prerequisite to any sales. As I am totally ignorant of local audits I am wondering whether anyone has any useful information on their duration?
Thanks, Madison

My question on this paragraph was - Does each line refer to different hospitals? I hope they're not double counting. The use of Englsih is not so clear as it might be.

Good point. But it does add up to twenty.

Yes, but look at the very first line: "Developments at these twenty hospitals are..."
They're explicitly stating that there are twenty hospitals.
I was lucky. I got in recently at 19.5p. I might buy more, dependent on getting some more cash.
