BLINX and you've missed it, the next google multi bagger!!! (BLNX)

Still Waiting - 25 Jul 2008 23:22

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=BLNX&S

With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

I cant take credit for this excellent postbut it is very informative on the Google spin Hilary

Guys, sitting in the background and reading the thread, fantastic work chaps and chappettes, keep it up. I work in the industry but I think that I'll stay in the background because the research here is so good.

I've just done a bit to help out, Google analytics is showing 18m searches worldwide in its search engines in the last month for blinkx.com. Interesting that it gives 9.2m from the USA. Quantcast is showing 14m from the USA, this works out roughly correct as the google share in US search is about 65% to 70%. If you extrapolate this to a worldwie result, you get a total worldwide search of around 26m per month across all search engines. If you have an adsense account, click on addplanner and enter blinkx.com in a company profile and you can view the stats by country and worldwide yourself. Stats available in www.google.com/adplanner

The search for blinkx.com in google is growing at about 50 - 60% year on year. Google took over Youtube on 70m searches per month at 1bn. Blinkx will reach about 35m searches in about 9 months time if the growth profile remains. Therefore, a takeover price would be 500m in 9 months time based on 2006 prices. This might sound poppycock to some but it WAS the price that Google was willing to pay in 2006. Ad revenues have increased 50% in the last three years, cost per add has probably increased around 25% so the valutaion for 9 months time is conservative. I can only see this going in one direction and have punched myself in the face several times for not picking this up earlier.

Oh yes, I was forgetting that I'm only allowed to post on threads if I agree with Tabster.

Whatever happened to good old fashioned businesses which make real profits and where PEGs aren't dirty words? Refresh my memory please, Tabster, how much did Blinkx lose last year exactly? And please don't quote the silly, worthless EBITDA profit of 30k (my friend with a hot dog van makes more than that). And can you also tell me why their gross margin seemed to decline? And how long do you think it'll be before they run out of cash and have to issue a dilutive rights issue to mug a few more punters like yourself?

Why do I need to read the QL article? Their last accounts (together with other news releases and charts) are already in the public domain and they already tell me everything I need to know.

Tabby why do you keep comparing Blnx with Autonomy. We know BLNX used to be owned by Autonomy, but I do not understand your comparison.

Cynic,

The journalists who write articles such as the one you reference have access to exactly the same information as everybody else. The article itself is just the author's particular spin on that information. Sometimes they have the additional benefit of being able to interview directly the owners of a business or somebody else who is close to the business. When this happens, the words that are written can often tend to be biased on the bullish side.

I don't have a problem with that, nor do I have a problem with either your or Tabster's views on the stock. You are entitled to those views, and I am pleased that you have made money from holding BLNX through its recent rise. There are also quite a few people on the pay-per-view section of this board who have been extolling its virtues for some months now, and I am pleased for them too as they have made good money from the rise.

That said, I am entitled to my view which is that there is a major disparity between their valuation and market capitalisation with a possible approach in mind on a revenue basis, and the NAV in their balance sheet. The balance sheet also shows a number of significant holes which look likely to get larger. If an approach isn't forthcoming (and I don't really see why it should be), then this could present a great short selling opportunity. In the meantime, it continues to trend up and I believe a fair valuation based upon revenues is 90p.

Until it breaks the uptrend, I won't be shorting it and I would personally continue to hold.

Shares are for buying and selling, not for falling in love with.

my attention span is too short to read your post .... i have no problem at all with your having your own opinion ... however, as you seem to like reading up all the guff etc, i thought you might have found it interesting .... that you do not, is no skin off my nose

Warren Buffett.

Warren Buffet is not your typical get rich quick financial motivator, but one who regularly preaches patience, with a keen eye for the undervalued potential of possible long term investments.

I think Mr. Buffett has fallen in love with many stocksdont appear to have done him much harm?

Clubman3509 - 20 Jul 2010 11:29 - 1131 of 6187

Shares are for buying and selling, not for falling in love with. Tabby would try to justify BLNX even if it went into freefall back to 10p. IMHO he loves BLNX more than his wife. Obsession is fatal
