Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

Actually I also don't think he should be banned. Squelched by everyone maybe but not banned. Bit surprised if really Hilary left just because of Fred rather than just squelching him. Something there doesn't add up.
No, strictly speaking, you're right and I decided not to actively post anymore because everybody else seemed to have already been driven away and no longer bothered to post themselves. Why doesn't Ruthie post anymore? Or the 50 something strong North West crowd who used to follow her around and made a contribution as part of the community? Where does Chocopops post nowadays (actually, I know the answer to that one)? Or Kayak, Martini, Foale, to name but a few of the countless others for that matter? Even Mikey only posts on high days and holidays.
Something has most definitely driven away scores of former posters who used to make a valuable contribution and whose posts I used to enjoy reading and conversing with. No disrepect to those who are left now but, somehow, it's no longer quite the same. It's not rocket science (sorry DelBoy) to figure that the root cause of the mass exodus is a 4-letter word beginning in "F" and ending in "D".
The end result is that we're now only left with a couple of subscriber-only threads and certain Freeview threads were starting to be bumped onto the PPV simply to "make up the numbers". The daily "Good Morning" thread and the "Fred Israeli Diatribe" thread are really all that's left in the Traders' Room once the other crap has been removed.
Seeing as I couldn't be arsed to plough through page after page of Fred's rants, I decided to walk away quietly. But ..... the forum isn't about whether or not I choose to post and, quite frankly, it's a little bit sad that some people seem to think that it is.
Seymour is only part-right imo when he says that AM is dying. The Traders' Room side of it died long ago when Fred began his mission to drive 90% of the regulars away. That said, I believe Haystack is quite correct and AM's business model is strong as it revolves around providing content and in obtaining the associated subscriptions and ad revenues from page impressions. I'm happy to admit that I check in each day for content research and I'm sure that AM will survive perfectly well without either a forum or my contributions to it.

Please correct me if again I am wrong. I do not believe the way people are talking that 9 out of 10 people have left due to Fred. Again you do not have to read what has been composed. I like the banter on here others are clear they do not.
Other sites ie LSE have a close knit circle of friends. The debate once started rolls a lot faster and has more investers contributing. I am not out to offend or be rude.

Really Hils and I thought you were sulking cause Chelsea were shite:O)
I miss you from a purely selfish reason, your experience and common sense, logic and wit. And great legs of course! Seriously this board needs your trading experience and for that reason alone you are sorely needed here. If that makes me a saddo so be it. Love CC

So Fred said:
As far a MM posting, which you so kindly posted for me to see,
I dislike people who send me what I consider, patronising, or threatening E-mails.
I believe they were provoked by my initiation of the Thread on "Israeli Gaza conflict".
Where the response from a few was an attempt to suffocate any discussion by personal abuse of me.
I wondered why.
To set the record straight, here is the text of the PM I sent Fred in February 2010.
Judge for yourselves whether it is "patronising, or threatening".
Fred,
Please forgive this intrusion. However, it is well meant.
Firstly, I've learnt in life not to be over-sensitive, so I don't particularly mind the Mighty Microbe jibes and so on. Equally, I don't see how it furthers your arguments, but that is matter for you.
However, I think you are making a tragic error in the way that you are attempting to further your obviously beloved Labour Party's cause: by your style of attack, you risk alienating the floating voters and, even worse, those who may have tended naturally to support Labour in the first place.
They will not align with the rabid and blinkered partisan view that presents itself in many of your posts. They will shy away from it because they are the middle people, the undecided, the unsure of their own minds. They will naturally avoid the partisan, the extreme, and they will certainly object to the continual character assassination and denigration that you employ in your posts.
In a word, Fred, you are doing your cause no favours. Or yourself.
Please reconsider your approach, if not for yourself, but for the cause you espouse.
Regards,
MM
