stockbunny - 06 Oct 2006 16:53 - 11356 of 24230

Can't hide anything from us Spacie ;>)
Have a good weekend all :>)

Spaceman - 06 Oct 2006 19:03 - 11357 of 24230

Yep its a VW Golf but a very nice one... Just back from a couple of hours of fun....

Opto, no its not 3 Litre its 3.2 Litre 250 HP approx, very nice to drive. ;-)

I was slightly concerned about the eco friendlyness of it so we are getting rid of both of our cars and replacing them both, I got the R32, Mrs S got a Toyta Aygo black, when you average them out it doesnt seem so bad ;-)

optomistic - 06 Oct 2006 19:09 - 11358 of 24230

Not splitting hairs Spacie, enjoy it.....watch for the cameras :-)

Socrates - 08 Oct 2006 18:37 - 11359 of 24230

Hello all, Socco is back! Socco maintenance now completed, but it didn't work. It was Socco that was being maintained by forcing him onto a holiday in Tuscany, that's foreign for anyone who is unsure. Since I am now totally "cream crackered" I shall have to return to work for a rest, but not till Tuesday, thus I have a free day to recover a little.

My itinerary was France, Switzerland, Italy, France and then home What with dodging cars, cyclists and buses in Florence I am a nervous wreck, and that was just on the pavements!

Must have a look at my protofilo now as I have a letter from NIS, something in the wind. possibly.

Back soon.

jeffmack - 08 Oct 2006 19:18 - 11360 of 24230

Hope you enjoyed your hols Socco, Saga was it?

Just back myself from 5 days in Mallorca, or Majorca to us old uns.

Spaceman - 08 Oct 2006 22:23 - 11361 of 24230

Welcome back socs.

Good luck with the new job Jeff, sounds interesting !?

Socrates - 08 Oct 2006 23:35 - 11362 of 24230

Hi Jeffers, I hope you know which is which, Paris / Brussels? Season ticket on Eurostar is it then?

Socrates - 09 Oct 2006 08:18 - 11363 of 24230

Oh, no-one here, I'll get the kettle and coffee-maker on. Brought some nice, fresh genuine French croissants back from Calais yesterday so I'll warm a few, the smell might attract some snail eaters!

KEAYDIAN - 09 Oct 2006 08:58 - 11364 of 24230

Large coffee and scrambled egg on toast please over here on table 9, plenty of brown sauce as well.

Socrates - 09 Oct 2006 08:59 - 11365 of 24230

OK, so I've had a look at my portfolio and actually made some money whilst I was away! I think I'll go away again. On the strength of that I'll have a FEB, with extra bacon (and no snails).

Socrates - 09 Oct 2006 08:59 - 11366 of 24230

Brown sauce on table is a bit on the messy side, isn't it K?

KEAYDIAN - 09 Oct 2006 09:03 - 11367 of 24230

Table cleared, found the sauce.

Eggs nice and fluffy please.

Socrates - 09 Oct 2006 09:07 - 11368 of 24230

Fluffy eggs coming up, nice and hot too. Not like in my hotel in Lyon, their fluffy eggs were luke warm at best, and that's a 5* hotel too, Just goes to show...........

Good traffic jams in Lyon, 1H20 to go less than a mile (should that be in kilometres)?

hilary - 09 Oct 2006 09:19 - 11369 of 24230

Lyon's a permanent traffic nightmare imo, Old Socs. We give it a wide berth.

If we're going to the Alps, we turn left at Macon (it's also about the best place to stop and load up with Chablis) nowadays. Towards Bourg-en-Bresse, then Annecy and Albertville. If we're going to the Med, we go straight down the middle to Clermont-Ferrand. It's a much quieter road.

Spaceman - 09 Oct 2006 09:21 - 11370 of 24230

Morning from a pleasant Norwich no rain but no sun either at the moment.

Socs, I have also found my trading improves greatly when I am not involved in it, having realised this I stopped completely expecting the money to flood into my bank account, but it didnt!

I am not sure what fluffy eggs are but I use scrambled egg as a standard test for the quality of hotels, I like them to be fairly solid and yellowish, i hate the stuff thats white and creamy and also the stuff with a green tinge (what causes that).

Maybe we could get Delia into the Coffee shop to do a scrambled egg masterclass for us.

Socs, by the way did you translate from Kms to Miles? or was it just a guess ;-) sounjds like you should have walked.

Socrates - 09 Oct 2006 09:31 - 11371 of 24230

Spacie
Miles taken from the speedo. Walked it later, in a few minutes. The French don't have a clue about traffic management, but the cars can move surprisingly quickly when there is a tram bearing down on them.
