THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

....An honest German motorist who stumbled across more than a million euros ($1.4 million) accidentally dumped on a motorway, handed the cash over to police on Wednesday.

The money was dropped two days earlier by a cash transit van on a slip road near Bad Kissingen in Bavaria.

It was discovered by a 41-year-old military worker who handed three suitcases of cash to police

Phone hacking has been around for ages.

This is a cool snippet from the 1998 Documentary Silicon Valley: A 100 Year Renaissance. Its a response by Apples CEO Steve Jobs to a story about Steve and Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak manufacturing and selling Blue Box phone hacking devices.

Steve was so impressed with the capabilities of the home brewed device that he goes so far as to say that If there was no Blue Box, there would be no Apple.

If youre unfamiliar with the Blue Box, it was a hacking device that allowed users to place free calls to any number, even hidden or private lines, by replicating the tones used to switch long-distance calls and using them to route the users own call, bypassing the normal switching mechanism. The device no longer works as it because phone companies have mostly switched over to digital, but this was basically the beginning of computer hacking as we know it and it led to the founding of Apple.

Can't remember!

Was A Coulson in charge of Data collection for Cameron and the party, or was he just an honest "Communications Officer"?

I would like to have information on the collection of information by "our" security services etc.

Perhaps, the information being collected is as hollow information as that on WMD.

I hope that the "Judge" in charge of any "enquiry" is a little better than the "Butler enquiry" and not parachuted into for political needs,

I wonder if George and Dave's families have share in Sky B. and the hold up is so they can dump their holdings?

Just an unpleasant thought.

A statement also from James Murdoch (News International Chariman):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14070822

in which he says:

...."This Sunday will be the last issue of the News of the World. Colin Myler will edit the final edition of the paper.

"In addition, I have decided that all of the News of the World's revenue this weekend will go to good causes.

"While we may never be able to make up for distress that has been caused, the right thing to do is for every penny of the circulation revenue we receive this weekend to go to organisations - many of whom are long-term friends and partners - that improve life in Britain and are devoted to treating others with dignity.

"We will run no commercial advertisements this weekend. Any advertising space in this last edition will be donated to causes and charities that wish to expose their good works to our millions of readers.

"These are strong measures. They are made humbly and out of respect. I am convinced they are the right thing to do."
