THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Nobody likes cold callers , have you just figured that one out you dick head.

Exec,

You will miss the News of the World!

You could try for a job on the Mirror.

Not sure if that is a reflection or not!

Interesting to watch Cameron and Murdock's world seemingly implode. Reminds me of Citizen Kane's empire unfold.

But see that Tricky Dicky has flown in to sorts his "problems" out.

I wonder if he will have tea with "Rosebud" Cameron and Georgie Boy at No 10?

Like to overhear that conversation.

All we need now is Aschroft to fly in as well.

Hear bets are been taken on Cameron being out of No 10 within 3months.

Wonder who the next tory puppet will be.

aldwickk - 09 Jul 2011 11:32 - 11465 of 81564

Never mine Fred you still have a Labour muppet

Fred1new - 09 Jul 2011 14:08 - 11466 of 81564

Aids,

I don't mind having a Labour muppet.

It is better than being a muppet. How does it feel?

For information, I have never been a labour party voter, although I have certain attachment to some of their basic values and the intention of the ideological thinking.

It is the method of achieving those ideals, which present problems to me.

At the momenr, one of the problems, I can see is that "self interest" is lorded and acceptable to the tory party, even when it and its policies disproportionally disenfranchise a less able group within society.

The values of "Loads of dough", comes to mind!

However, I recognise that many of the fractions, within the members of the "labour" party, wish to implement policies out of self interest and sometimes self advancement, but to a less blatant degree as is apparent in the present tory ideologues.

Again, what sticks out to me is the posturing of the present "caring" government. For me, it is the most hypocritical and shallow government I can remember (I have a long memory.)

I think that its results of many of its policies will lead to increasing fragmentation of society, i.e into "us and them mentality", which has potential dangers.

(My guess is that the public will not tolerate the obviously increasing inequalities in society. Previous generations may have prepared to accept the differences, but due to changes in communications and the media leading to increased awareness of larger groups of society, the present generations will not be as tolerant. May be wrong, but I did write guess.)

Fred1new - 09 Jul 2011 17:34 - 11468 of 81564

That isn't Aids.

dreamcatcher - 09 Jul 2011 17:37 - 11469 of 81564

Do you have a better picture?

2517GEORGE - 09 Jul 2011 18:27 - 11470 of 81564

Re post 11468 strangely enough that was my view of the labour party when they were in power, and largely responsible for the mess (debt) we're in now. They bribed huge numbers of the electorate, especially many (not all) of those on benefits by making it ok not to work, they created huge numbers of state funded jobs and non jobs and kept interest rates too low for too long, thus fuelling a consumer boom. Brown was right when he said he had done away with 'boom and bust', it's just bust now, Goldilocks won't be back anytime soon.
I firmly believe that had labour won the last election then they would have been in power for many many more years to come due to the vast numbers of bought votes. Whilst the Tories are far from perfect I feel we had a lucky escape.

Fred1new - 09 Jul 2011 18:35 - 11471 of 81564

2517,

Maybe it is better for some.

But think of the Old Lady, an ex-ballerina who had multiple strokes, who due to necessary cut backs is expected to lie in her own faeces, in incontinent nappies.

That is the effect the uncaring bigger society.

I don't know all the details, but the social services director think it acceptable to stop her night care and leave in that situations.

But I think that some of the profits of UK to prevent that standard of care.

Even though it may mean increased taxation and/or reduction in our Arm Services.

The Non-jobs you may be referring to may be the low paid social care workers.

Would you do their job?

Perhaps, you or members of your family may need their assistance sometime in the future. I hope they are treated with more
dignity that the ballerina.

It is obvious that the Brown and Labour made mistakes,(which government doesn't), but they also improved medical and social care immensely during their period in government.

Just out of interest did you called the economic crash and the depth of it before it occurred?

dreamcatcher - 09 Jul 2011 18:37 - 11472 of 81564

In other words the tories are the best we have.

Fred1new - 09 Jul 2011 18:55 - 11473 of 81564

514,

PS. The old lady made the headlines because who she was and is now.

Dreams.

God help everyone if that is true.

(And I am an atheist!)

dreamcatcher - 09 Jul 2011 19:08 - 11474 of 81564

Look how well we are getting on with USA,France (sorry), Germany, the list goes on.
If labour had looked after the finances, the conservatives could have done so much more. There always comes a day of reckoning with debt and the cons have inherited this. Our AAA status is so important for world trade, interest rates and so on. The IMF
are fully behind yes DC for the way the debt restructuring is going. This AAA status would be junk rated under Labour now. China would then be buying our bonds (to take us over and rule the world) They have not helped Greece as they like them, have they.
