NIGHTHAWK 6 BAGGER ON DEBUT. (HAWK)

oilyrag - 12 Mar 2007 07:10

Pre IPO price 4p
Opening price on debut 25p
Floatation price 46p to raise 14million to extend Jolly Ranch
Current fair value estimate 114p
Market cap 70.59 million.
Value of Cisco Springs investments 98 million.
Value of Vogel investments 75 million.
Desparado trucking now Nightfox 250,000 for a 50% stake with partner Running Foxes.
Centurion Project Kansas, 150,000 for a 50% stake.
Jolly Ranch Colorado, 40,000 acres cost 356,000 for a 50% stake.
Cash in bank 7.75 million.

As this EPIC opens on AIM today anything could happen. On the one hand you have traders trying to cash in a sixfold profit. You will also have a clambering of traders after shares because, firstly they could only get 75% of their allocation because of demand. Secondly at 25p this company is still way under valued.

and that saturn is exactly how to lose your shirt.
no one knows for sure how a share or a sector or anything else will perform .... it's only with hindsight that one can do that
for example, i don't altogether agree with marni re DGO, for though i have indeed made decent money from that stock, 52% is held by dubai gov't, so any predator will have to win them over.
DGO as a stand-alone company may ultimately come good in a big way, as turkmenistan has huge untapped natural resources .... but is DGO the one to unlock at least a substantial part of the oil stock?

marni - 12 Oct 2009 10:49 - 1150 of 1373

now hit 47p today

gibby - 12 Oct 2009 11:35 - 1151 of 1373

there is new rumour of us interest - should hit 50p soon then towards 60p soon imo

marni - 12 Oct 2009 13:27 - 1152 of 1373

well they have that ADR thing out on us..........no doubt cynic complaining rise not high enough for him......only 13.25p up since his disapproval from 1 week ago

cynic - 12 Oct 2009 13:30 - 1153 of 1373

marni .... even though you no doubt hold 500k of these, HAWK's performance over a sensible period (6 months is my arbitary choice) is really not that special relative to the rest of the oilies and miners

marni - 12 Oct 2009 13:38 - 1154 of 1373

maybe not........but i think next 12 months will be........its a long term hold this one to prove its worth.......its not like oil producers where higher oil sp means higher sp for them.

however ih hawk prove up worth then with oil price increasing to 73$ then it could be best 12 months coming up rather than doing so in last 12 months.......and they will have better knowledge than before of what they have

cynic - 12 Oct 2009 13:40 - 1155 of 1373

just did the exercise for my own amusement against some positions that i hold.....

over the last 6 months
HAWK has performed quite a bit better than PMO and RIO
HAWK has performed a bit worse than TLW and HOIL
HAWK has performed far worse than POG

marni - 12 Oct 2009 14:01 - 1156 of 1373

i got POG out of that lot, lol

marni - 12 Oct 2009 14:02 - 1157 of 1373

very unfair comparing against pog esp as its in russia and a gold miner

blueface - 12 Oct 2009 14:39 - 1158 of 1373

if anyone gets bored with watching shares go up and down you can always click on to that well known website which can be very entertaining and you do not need a credit card!!--oh sorry --i nearly forgot!--try --www.myfreepaysite.com---you didn't get that tip from here now!

cynic - 12 Oct 2009 15:19 - 1159 of 1373

sort of, but having stuck my neck out by saying oilies and miners, i thought i should oblige ..... that POG is a miner and operates in russia is a bit of an irrelevenace, as the others work all over the place too .... and of course RIO is a miner too

marni - 12 Oct 2009 17:06 - 1160 of 1373

but pog was valued less cos of russia factor as are other companies in that region.......the boys in city aint a clue what goes on there

cynic - 12 Oct 2009 17:13 - 1161 of 1373

but now? ..... bad logic marni, as POG's operational base hasn't moved, so the risk's the same now as it was before ..... but as i said, the exercise was really just for my amsuement and curiosity

gnashlevel2 - 13 Oct 2009 07:48 - 1162 of 1373

cynic, HAWK like all companies stands to see the sp affected by it's own situation, it's just daft to go comparing it to anything else, never mind completely different sectors! (what ARE you on?)

We had to run the gauntlet of intentional negativity on bulletin board over the failed SS deal, even though that has turned to be to our longer term benefit imho. Then we had the placing, necessary but a pain for the sp over that period.

But now we move forward debt-free and fully financed, with quite simply the best outlook in the sector, again imho. The next 12 months will be OUR year at last, when all the expectations will come true.

cynic - 13 Oct 2009 07:59 - 1163 of 1373

for goodness sake! ..... the whole thing was merely done from personal idle curiosity and interest in response to a throw-away comment from marni about the "brilliant" performance of HAWK

gnashlevel2 - 13 Oct 2009 09:11 - 1164 of 1373

okay, tbh I posted before I read your clarification.

cynic - 13 Oct 2009 10:18 - 1165 of 1373

no probs m8 .... very easy indeed to take a post somewhat out of context

market trend - 13 Oct 2009 19:47 - 1166 of 1373

plenty of news to come and im staying in.

gibby - 17 Oct 2009 14:20 - 1167 of 1373

independent today: 'Another constituent with an interesting future is Nighthawk Energy. Shares of the US-focused oil and gas explorer and producer have been volatile this year with bear raiders on the prowl. There are now signs that short-sellers are retreating with the shares looking a little firmer.

With three share placings raising a total of 34.4m in less than a year it is, perhaps, not surprising that Nighthawk has a contingent of weak shareholders. The cash was needed for oil and gas developments and the balance sheet is now much stronger with around 20m in the bank.

The latest results could represent a new beginning, but shareholders are no strangers to false dawns. Still, with costs cut and production increasing, the yearly loss was reduced by 42 per cent to around 1.25m. With output likely to advance significantly from a range of energy prospects, there is a strong chance that the current year will show a break-even position, perhaps even a profit.

Observers believe the shares are dramatically underpriced. Stockbroker Hanson Westhouse has a 225p valuation and Growth Equities & Company Research is looking at 227p. I will be content if the shares hit their earlier peak of 116p. The portfolio paid 44p.'
