Spaceman - 28 Jan 2005 23:56

CLOSED - THANKS to all customers for the last few years

Fundamentalist - 18 Oct 2006 11:11 - 11528 of 24230

the frustrating this is, i really like the laptop itself, just not reliable enough and awful customer service

pretty much getting the machine back how i want it now, just got to find someone who can recover the old hard disk now

stockbunny - 18 Oct 2006 11:29 - 11529 of 24230

I thought you had already had problems with a Toshiba laptop a while back, so this is the replacement, geesh what a performance for you :>(
Heard a lot of horrir stories about laptops, from battery problems to overheating, so not rushing to convert from my desktop standard computer. I can live with not being able to work on the move thankfully LOL

Spaceman - 18 Oct 2006 14:46 - 11530 of 24230

I like Tosh laptops they are well built and perform fairly well and the price isnt bad. Mine has been fine since I bought in in Australia last xmas. But I understand the concerns if you need support, I would not even bother speaking to them and I would fix it myself.

On the whole I am not a fan of laptops they are to compromised and expensive, I only use mine when I am away from home.

Fundy re your data, it may be hard to get anything much off without paying good money, it depends on how badly damaged it is. One thing that you might think of trying is mounting it under Linux and seeing if you can recover anything that way.

cheers Spacey

some of us would a great deal more damage if they tried to repair it themselves :-)

as for the data recovery, its with a mates company to have a look at - fingers xx'ed

Hello one and all. Lots to read here tonight, from laptops to the weather. I'm not sold on laptops myself, seen too many folk with problems. We have some where I work and they get a bit of a bashing so it is surprising they last as well as they do.

Only make we use is Acer, one chap even went out and bought the Ferrari version (no, I'm not kidding). He loves it and has no problems, but he is a careful sort of chap and would be very careful not to bash it or drop it in a bowl of sherry trifle.

Must check my profiterole now and see if I have made any money today.

Evening all,
Just got to the hotel and I have eaten 2 packets of crisps and 2 chocolate bars, I now find these cost 12 Euros !

So having blown my eating budget I though I would pop in to the coffee shop for a nice plate of spuds and onions with a side order of fish fingers. If the Times is to be believed I think I need to get another container load of fish fingers in the freezer here before fish is banned.

Socrates - 18 Oct 2006 22:13 - 11534 of 24230

My 2.5 euros left over from my holiday won't go very far then Spacie?

stockbunny - 19 Oct 2006 08:41 - 11535 of 24230

Spacie - I'm in the process of organising a bag of haddock fish fingers to be delivered for you ;>)

optomistic - 19 Oct 2006 09:48 - 11536 of 24230

Address:

Spacie
Expensive Hotel

That should find him Bunny :-)

stockbunny - 19 Oct 2006 11:02 - 11537 of 24230

Should do, I'll add a PS - OFTEN FOUND IN THE COMPANY OF A LAMB
that should make extra sure, mind you may get him a few funny looks but it will be worth it for his haddock fish fingers :>)

Socrates - 19 Oct 2006 16:53 - 11538 of 24230

Hi all, dull, dull, dull. Rain too.

KEAYDIAN - 19 Oct 2006 21:04 - 11539 of 24230

Socs, relax, have a fish finger!

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2006 00:42 - 11540 of 24230

Evening all, thanks for the fish fingers they arrived fine but Lambykins accepted the order and ate the lot, he said he had always fancied some fish and he really liked them and that they made a nice change from grass!

Opto, hotel should have read not very expensive hotel cloggyland ;-)

optomistic - 20 Oct 2006 08:23 - 11541 of 24230

Good morning Spacie, it was the cost of the packets of crisps and chocolate bars that made me think it was expensive :-)

stockbunny - 20 Oct 2006 08:27 - 11542 of 24230

Grotty and damp here this morning :>(
Typical - it knows I want to pop out and do some shopping!
Danish and a cuppa I think..

optomistic - 20 Oct 2006 08:41 - 11543 of 24230

Grotty here as well Bunny, danish and tea (pot) for me please.

Spaceman - 20 Oct 2006 09:11 - 11544 of 24230

Dull and gray just started to rain in Hastings.

Can I join in the tea and danish party please ?

Interesting flight back last night, started off as fabulous sunny flight, you could see for 100 miles and it was smooth and lovely, I had a windows seat and it was magical watching the world go by but as we got to Kent it deteriorated dramatically and became very dark and very turbulent, we then spend about 15 minutes avoiding thunderstorms and being tossed around in cloud and heavy rain, I was pleased when we landed.

Opto ;-) it was the Movenpick voorburg which is my favorite hotel in Den Haag even though its in the middle of nowhere. 90Euros a night but nicer than the far more expensive places .

optomistic - 20 Oct 2006 09:17 - 11545 of 24230

you can have two danish Spacie, or more if required...very reasonable here :-)
Turbulance makes for interesting flying but thunderstorms....yuk!!

stockbunny - 20 Oct 2006 11:39 - 11546 of 24230

Umm only been on a plane in a storm once, over Canadian/US boarder, wasn't pleasant especially as by then everyone had already been on the plane for hours and some had soaked a lot of alcohol by then.

Socrates - 20 Oct 2006 17:13 - 11547 of 24230

Spacie
There is a saying in aviation, "any landing that you walk away from is a good landing", so never mind the storms, they are just for added interest.

I don't know that hotel. The one I stayed at had a red light outside. I had to stop going there as they always wanted you to share the room. Not my style at all.

I feel like a dose of sherry trifle and a cuppa. Is it the weekend or am I dreaming?
