THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The winning couple have both had long term health problems abd haven't worked for years. Probably too fat to work.

3 monkies - 17 Jul 2011 13:17 - 11639 of 81564

We had rain most of yesterday as well, I know the ground and my water butts need it but enough is enough. Bet Balerboy is well impressed, not. Going to make a lemon cake and send it to Scotland hehehe!!!! (Put loads of butter cream filling in it) only joking.
Enjoy the rest of the day.

Brookes, arrested in connection with "payments" to "police".

Would be interesting if she spills, or sells the "stories" to save her bacon and make a few bob.

Must be a little like "Kiss and Tell" for Cameron.

Hope he kept good notes of the 26 meetings.

dreamcatcher - 17 Jul 2011 13:44 - 11642 of 81564

That sounded sympathetic Haystack, until 'probably too fat to work' lol

dreamcatcher - 17 Jul 2011 13:46 - 11643 of 81564

Mayor congratulates Sir Paul Stephenson on appointment as Metropolitan Police Commissioner

28 JANUARY 2009

The Mayor of London and Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority (MPA), Boris Johnson, today congratulated Sir Paul Stephenson on his appointment as the next Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

The Mayor has long thought Sir Paul Stephenson seemed the most suitable man for the job and was delighted the Home Secretary agreed.
Boris Johnson made a clear manifesto commitment to increase police accountability and put greater focus on cutting knife crime, violence and protecting the capital from the threats from terrorism.

Boris Johnson said:

Outcomes:-

Just guesses!

Probably, the drawbridges of the politicians, the police and the press will be drawn up for a couple of years.

The press will continue to crawl through the dustbins, but I think some of them may back off for a while exploring and exposing the corruption of various "governing bodies".

They may sort out the Press Council remit and powers. This would be useful.

But what is legitimate in good "investigative journalism" is difficult to define and enforce without suppression of information which should be perused in the public arena.

I think it is a timely warning for the "executive" that seems more and more remote, or behaves as if it is untouchable. They thought that the latter was so, but it is to be welcomed that, they aren't.

Also, what will become more obvious and important will be the Internet and overseas journalistic reflections, of an insular little island.

Shortly, will be wandering around France again and it will be interesting to see what the opinion of the "fiasco" is there.

If you haven't already read the to-day's Observer's editorial list of suggested questions suggested to be asked of Brooks, the Murdochs, if, or when, they appear before the select committee, have a look.
