Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

on balance, i think there is probably further immediate upside of 100/150p provided that the report confirms reserves of at least 170mb .... if the report shows say 400mb, the i think it reasonable to expect sp to whizz a lot further

Hope so....but with this one : nothing is sure...never can be sure when they will issue another rns for one.....that's how I got caught out at the start...2 in 24 hours...grrrr....I might try and get a few more next week....wish I had more time to play this up and down....

Yes, some of the current sp is due to the available news being in, but as with most share news, confirmation is everything, especially in the oil business.

Good labs tests = 3+ imo (probably over valued, but hype/momentum/heavy trading will dominate). After that sp will probably drift, as the next RKH news will be a long way off. Stick with it this time rf!

What are they going to say in the next rns ?...that they think that there is half a billion barrels down there..."think" is no good..: you need a flow test..that's what GKP did....or are they just going to give the kind of oil with approx. amounts of oil down there ?....I mean there is not a fantastic amount of info on all this, if you compare this discovery to others...hype : there's plenty of that...what the brokers think and all that.....will stay put...might add depending on available funds and sp....

rf, when you take cores and do lab analysis, along with the other data collected, you do not really need to rush to do flow tests, as you can know already.
Did GKP do core analysis ? Did GKP tell you what the porosity was ? what the permeability was ?
I would like you to compare the information released by RKH and by GKP........ ;)
As for the price, any announcement of circa 400M barrels and this is going to explode.

cynic was thinking of TMC, QE 2 made a lot of money out of Poseidon which at one stage reached 100 per share from (a fading) memory.

For memory that sp eventually crashed after the meteoric rise, I had a couple of Aussi miners at that time but not Poseidon.

For those who like math you just have to remember.
Oriel analyst, 170M barrels = 600p a share on an in the ground basis.
Next news will be estimates of size, and its expected to be bigger than 170M barrels.
Just keep holding tight and adding on the dips IMO.
I have no plans at all to sell any at least until after the Ernest prospect is drilled.
FOGL is next up but this makes no difference to RKH as its South Falklands, and personally I am expecting FOGL to get oil shows but no large accumulation, we shall see.

Something interesting for the weekend.
Did you know that the license area where Sea Lion is, is an analogue of the Barmer Basin in Rajasthan (India), where Cairn Energy has discovered 3.6 billion barrels of oil so far.
The point is, it was Shell who gave up the license back then to Cairn who went on to discover the oil.
Here, it is again Shell who gave up the license that Rockhopper took on, and have now found oil.
I guess there was a section of the Shell geological team back then who read things very very wrongly in their interpretation and gave away these plays, much to the later benefit of Cairn, and now Rockhopper.
How many billions are Rockhopper going to find, the more they drill into this area. As has been said there are two plays "Stephens" and "Fox" that are the same as Sea Lion. Over the coming years it is not inconceivable that RKH will go on to find billions of barrels of the black gold, which is the incentive here to keep buying and holding and thank your lucky stars you are getting in at the very start of what should be a long and fruitful ride, just like Cairn.

What you must consider is the Westhouse broker note (copied part below) is based only on Sea Lion and Ernest, and although they say the top level is unlikely, it now seems Sea Lion is at the top level (giving 1550p) and so if Ernest comes home too you get well over 2000p.
However -
Sea Lion being a success brings two other prospect which are considered analogues of Sea Lion well into play. This is "Stephens" and "Fox" which total another potential 400M barrels recoverable. That is not in any calculations....... :)
