hi peter ..... have rather lost touch of late ...... worse than grim innit! ...... it's almost as bad as the days after lehman's collapse

HARRYCAT - 04 Aug 2011 16:41 - 1172 of 5221

"ok that's a superb (if buying) price"...........only if the sp doesn't go down further, which it is likely to do, imo.
Also don't forget the next action is a way off yet:
"International oil and gas exploration, development and production company, Range Resources, has said that the drilling of two wells is scheduled to occur before the end of the year."

At times like this it is best to fill your shed with boring stuff like Unilever or any other retailer or pharma company type who sells the essential everyday day stuff. Speculative shares will take the biggest knock and buying/selling volume will not have any bearing on the sp. Tin hat time.

Maybe that is a bit simplistic but yes, that about sums it up DC!

kimoldfield - 04 Aug 2011 16:47 - 1176 of 5221

Ultimately of course, it is the broker/dealer who sets the price at which the deal is done and he/she can set any price!

They are drilling in Georgia Harrycat !......there will be a rebound but this is terrible at the moment and I have done the daft thing of leaving a few longs running in the hope that this was just a bad one or two days....

For the first time ever I do not have a single blue share in my portfolio! There is worse to come of course.

dreamcatcher - there will have been skulduggery today that would shame Rupert. - until the powers that be get some teeth - it will always be the same!

HARRYCAT - 04 Aug 2011 16:53 - 1182 of 5221

Sorry, yes rf. Puntland isn't due to start 'til end of year, but currently drilling in Trinidad & Georgia.

Hi Ricardo, hope you're well. Decided a while ago to become a lurker, but this is too much fun to watch and say nothing. I'm in the fortunate position of having reverted to cash about six weeks ago. Partly because I was starting to incur some losses and partly because I just didn't like the look of the markets. In any event I am now the proud owner of just two stocks!

DC, I've spent quite a few years on this BB highlighting potential stocks, some I got right, some I got wrong. I've probably spent more time warning off the unwary from speculative crap; in those cases I was nearly always right, however, I got no thanks for those successes, mostly abuse. So, I'm keeping my thoughts to myself now, but, perhaps it is time to look at stocks that actually generate profits and have little relative debt?

Kim - I have JDW and ULVR on my monitor (1.7%) and (2.7%) - alas not in my portfolio.

Skinny, yes those are the sort of stocks to be in right now!

Oil down to $88.50. Bet it won't relate to prices at the pump!!
