DYOR - - - - - - - - - Biom Technologies mid-July 2010 AIM
This is the new resting place for Stanelco, the wonder producer of starch-based food-trays...only they didn't catch on.Over the last 10 years to 2010 the 0.1p shares traded abour 2.5p then shot up to 24p during 2005 with promise of Tray-Trials I understand. Within a year or so, they fell to new depths and finished at 0.2p Of course they were full-list then and some were held in ISA's hoping there would be a big profit...only now these are distressed sales as the Company slunk off to AIM, presumably "...to provide better shareholder-value"
Perhaps someone closer to the Co. can explain why the new name is Biome
....rhymes with Home. Often it is done to remove the previous sp-history.
Could it be..so new investors can bask in ignorance, etc. I'm not aware of any "change" in fortune for SEO, rather the reverse.
In my limited experience, the longer the name of a company the longer you have to wait for any return...Huh . . . . . .
. SEO had been a terrible investment.
DYOR.
Can Biome be any worse...?
EDIT ( 24April2017)- "just woken up" -me not BIOME - sp is 154, but I note about June 2013 there was what looks like a CONsolidation . . do I recall many LT investors were sold-short?... as I believe the (new share) numbers were terrible! . . . Anyone?

There is a range of emotions that holders of BIOM go through :-
Hope Excitement Adulation Dispare Confusion Anxiousness Sickness Emptiness.
Take the first letter from each word and you have the description of a BIOM shareholder.
Welcome to the club! ;o)

According to Mercedes Benz magazine it is developing a new concept car in its Advanced Design Studios in California called the "Biome" made from organic cultivation which at the end of its useful life can simply be composted or turned into building material.

kim read article on page 46 of mercedes benz magazine which states "they forsee cars that could be made from BioFibre which could be lighter than metal or plastic, yet more robust than steel."

Halifax, yes I know! The Biome looks a pretty smart piece of kit. Let's hope that BIOM shares can move as quickly!! Certainly there is an interesting future ahead, it would be great if Biome Technologies became part of Mercedes' future and visa versa. Not impossible is it?!

kim who knows stranger things have happened, but it would be a great co -incidence if there is no connection. Biome is a pretty odd name for a sports car.

Biome is a standard name of course but there is no reason why BIOM shouldn't be knocking on Mercedes' door offering some of their new technology. May 5th should provide a hint as to whether or not the company can pull off something respectable for a change!

Would it be too difficult for you to explain 'why' it should double.
What sort of 'BIG business $$$$$$'

SHARE MAGAZINE TIP
It is worth snapping up to bioplastics
specialist Biome
Technologies (BIOM:AIM) ahead of next months trading update (5 May),
in anticipation of profit forecast upgrades. We believe the group
could move into the black ahead of
market expectations,
which have the 14 million cap posting a maiden profit in 2012.
Southampton-based Biome filed a patent for its first bioplastic earlier
this month (7 Apr).
The product is stable at high temperatures and should therefore open up markets previously closed to the firm, including packaging for hot food and drink.
Biomes core business involves the development and supply of natural, rather than oil-based, resins that are both biodegradable and from
sustainable sources, for use in the production of plastics.
Chief executive officer Paul Mines told Shares at the time of Marchs interim results the business had performed ahead of internal expectations
in the first two months of the year. Confirmation of this positive
trend in the upcoming statement would be a significant catalyst for
the shares.
A net cash pile of 3.7 million
should leave Biome adequately
financed until it reaches break-even
"We believe the group could move into the black ahead of market expectations"
THIS IS WHY IT WILL DOUBLE

Yes but so was one of their other products. Remember their biodegradable food trays and the Asda deal that never was.
Not saying the latest product won't make it big, just saying we have been here many times before.
And as for predicting a doubling of the sp, means it would still have some way to go to actually return to being a true penny share.

Most of us on this thread are still sitting on big losses from the stanelco/Asda deal days.
but if you forget about the history and look at Biome as a new company with their portfolio of products, at under .25p I think they are a punt. I bought more at .19 a few weeks ago.
