PapalPower - 12 Mar 2005 02:32 - 13 of 301

The big buys came in early, normally on Monday, but this time Friday, over 1.5M buys today. Wonder if another million or so on Monday.

Should be another blue week on Vislink.

PapalPower - 15 Mar 2005 05:02 - 14 of 301

Prelims due around the 11th April, which would explain the large buys going through now. IMO good news in the prelims and a rather quick jump to higher levels.

moneyplus - 15 Mar 2005 11:33 - 15 of 301

Hope so PP I've held these for a long time too it would be nice to see my losses turning around here. Bought at 70p originally but have picked up a small buy to lower my average.

Having snatched the rights to screen the Boat Race from BBC, ITV is pulling out all the stops to make Sunday's event a hit with viewers; special close-ups of the straining teams will be shown for the first time.

One company hoping the result is a big success is Vislink, the communications and CCTV group, headed by entrepreneur Bob Morton.

Vislink is a supplier of the high tech wireless camera systems that go into outside broadcast equipment which is being trialled by ITV at the weekend.

Vislink has a growing business in the UK and the US with broker Investec today looking for a sharp increase in sales and profits for 2005. Morton, with interests in half a dozen quoted companies, has called Vislink his jewel in the crown.

Vislink yesterday reported fairly unexciting figures for 2004 with sales of 67 million depressed by the weak dollar and profits mauled by goodwill write-offs and various restructuring charges.

But Morton kick-started the new year with the acquisition of Link Research, a key supplier of the high tech equipment that goes into wireless camera systems. Watford based Link, set up by brothers David and Len Mann, has been earning juicy margins on sales of its systems.

Now those profits will drop in Vislinks lap. But the real prize is in the US where Link can be bolted on to Vislinks existing business, Microwave Radio Communications.

A programme of change, known as the 2GHz relocation project, requires US broadcasters to convert to digital equipment and relocate their radio transmissions to a higher frequency.

This means that they will have to scrap all their existing radio equipment and buy a new generation of equipment from companies like Microwave Radio Communications. It has already picked up an initial order worth $30 million.

Some of the estimates of likely orders are mouth-watering with up to 3,500 different units of radio equipment needing to be replaced at a total cost of between $100 million and $120 million.

Other parts of the business should see improved prospects, particularly CCTV equipment for the Norwegian oil and gas market. Investec sees greater profits in the second half as deliveries reach customers with an overall outcome of 5.4 million profits on sales of 85 million.

At current levels of 29.5p valuing the group at 40 million, the shares are selling on 12 times 2005 forecast earnings.

Hernis doing well, and Link is looking very good.

Now is the time to buy for bottom feeders.

We should also be getting news soon on more US contracts.

squidd - 30 Apr 2005 05:58 - 20 of 301

PpP: Your reference to bottom feeders has come up on my radar so I am coming over for a look.

PapalPower - 03 May 2005 09:27 - 21 of 301

squidd, it looks like the bottom is done and the buy signal there. I would expect news very soon, could be another large US contract win. I have stuck my neck out on this one and expect mid September that it will be more than 50p after the return to profits is confirmed at the interims early September.

squidd - 03 May 2005 10:46 - 22 of 301

PpP: Have been distracted by my other favourite recovery stock - ELA - now my biggest holding after this morning's rise. However, thanks for the update on VLK which I am researching, though I don't think I can come up with very much before the weekend.
sd.

squidd - 09 May 2005 21:12 - 23 of 301

PapalPower: It's been a good day for the PpP portfolio with APH up 3.9% and
VLK up 2.9% - hope others are watching and comparing to the ASC challenge.
I've had mixed feedback on VLK; my contact expects good growth from the wireless camera division, which incidentally looks excellent on their website, but only modest growth from the group as a whole. This though is just one opinion.
For my part, I'm keeping about 50% cash in case the debt mountain implodes and mainly interested in recovery stocks, so from your portfolio UNG, OSH and APH join ELA and others on my watch list.

PapalPower - 10 May 2005 06:28 - 24 of 301

Squid, I have been happy with the news from APH we had some more just recently and some strong buying yesterday. ELA is turning up. VLK is turning up and you are right there, the extra good news is to be from Link but that is also with finally a good performance from Vislink as well, adding the Link extras into a good year for Vislink group means VLK will be going up probably peaking in price around October. Many people are sceptics of VLK now, IMHO this year they will prove the sceptics wrong.

UNG remains a strong buy, the market is just waiting for proof of performance at the next results. OSH remains unbelievably low and has all the bad news and more and yet more factored in, which is very unfair (good oportunity). They have taken good action (closed some loss making practices and restructered the debt such that provided interest rates remain below 8% they are fine and have extra money now to work with that was paying back the interest)

I see VLK and OSH and UNG and APH and ELA outperforming the market between now and the year end.

PapalPower - 13 May 2005 07:56 - 25 of 301

We have had some shorters burnt on VLK as they are trying to drive the price down to get in low and make the most of going long on what will be Vislinks best year for a long long time. Vislink is a strong buy in my opinion and buying volume will increase as we go through May and June.

Dividend of 0.2p later in June.

Annual General Meeting trading update - Wednesday 25th May 2005

Vislink plc ('the Group'), the leading supplier of microwave radio and satellite transmission products for the broadcast and security markets and of CCTV systems for the marine security market, held its Annual General Meeting today.

The Chief Executive Ian Scott-Gall made the following announcement to the shareholders present at the meeting.

The Group has made a promising start to the year. The Group's trading is in line with expectations and is significantly ahead of the previous year. The order inflow has been particularly good for MRC in the domestic US markets and for Hernis in its marine safety market. The Board is pleased to announce that MRC has been awarded an order in excess of $4 million for its TSSR US military radios.

Link Research Limited, which was acquired by the Group on February 11th 2005,
has made a good start. Link has now been accepted on the 2GHz programme as a supplier for wireless camera systems and continues to win new business. Its new
video cellular diversity wireless camera system was used for the first time to provide coverage for the recent University Boat Race.

The UK business is now seeing stronger international demand although the market has remained competitive. The large contract in Venezuela is expected to benefit the second half of the year with completion in the fourth quarter.

Hernis has made an encouraging start to the year with orders and operating profits in line with expectations. Hernis has seen growth in its Far East
markets with significant orders for both marine and offshore oil and gas projects.

In summary, the Board is encouraged by the current level of trading and looks forward to the rest of the year with enthusiasm and confidence.

squidd some excellent news here and we are on for a div end of June and those profitable results in September, the worm has turned at Vislink

squidd - 26 May 2005 16:22 - 31 of 301

PpP: I agree with you and it's good to see those splashes of blue in the PpP portfolio. But the ELA chart, with today's rise is telling me to stick to recovery stocks, so my main hope from your list is still APH to which I will probably add in due course. Thanks again for all the research you are posting.

Am looking hard at YOO which looks like a disaster area that might recover.
