THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Here we go again , let's send a few thousand to the Uk

British government's response.
"In our view humanitarian and refugee issues are best dealt with in the region of origin, or by asylum seekers claiming protection in the first safe country they reach."

So why are there asylum seekers from all over the World living in Britain ?

Aldwickk,

Where is your compassion?

Remember that it is always better to give than to receive (thats why the church is so rich).
I will never send money to any foreign country, until it can be shown that most of it does not end in the pockets of the few who rule these countries.

We are all equal. Its just that some are more equal than others.

Charity begins at home.
I am sending any spare cash to those poor travelers who are being unfairly evicted from their homes at Dale Farm.
After all where is the justification in evicting these hard working, tax paying people who have for 10 years been allowed to contravene the planning laws that we none travelers have to obey.
Its pure harassment.
Poor lambs!

How come most Gypsies insist that they are not Gypsies but travelers, and yet they never travel anywhere.
Most Gypsies (sorry travelers) move less frequently than most of us move house.

Who are the mugs.

About 35 years ago a large static site was built for Gypsies in Nottingham. This site had all the amenities that an all inclusive holiday resort could wish for. OK a bit of exaggeration there, but they did have shower and wash blocks with their own laundrette.
All the facilities had hot water and central heating.
During the first winter the council received complaints that the central heating and hot water systems did not work. On inspection it was found that all the copper piping had been removed. The Gypsies said they were not to blame and it must have been outsiders. Of course it was, with a wall surround and access by a gate it was obviously some passerby just wandered in, stole the copper piping without being noticed and wandered out again.
What followed.
The copper piping was replaced and within a couple of months the same disappearing act occurred.
And yet, guess what.
Thats right, the copper piping was replaced yet again.
From memory the replacement piping was reported at costing 20,000 a time, the camp itself cost something like 200,000 all at 1976 prices.
I don't know what happened after that as this farcical but true story was reported in the local Nottingham Evening Mail, just before I moved to Yorkshire.

You couldn't make it up.
