THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Laughter the key to a long life?

Bob Hope's wife Dolores dies aged 102

Wife of late entertainer, a singer in her own right, dies of natural causes in Los Angeles eight years after her husband's death

Will you still hate me if I give you a ride.

greekman - 20 Sep 2011 13:35 - 12352 of 81564

Na, but I don't make a very good passenger at speed.

Mind you, if you are a tall, long legged, blue eyed, gorgeous blond (FEMALE) then I might just give it a go.

As to speed, my most frightening experiences were a 80 mph sideways slide round a bend at Donington, (more luck than skill that I got it back) in a Mini Cooper and a take to the grass moment in a single seater Ferrari at the same bend.
After the Mini Cooper incident, I must admit it took a couple of laps to get my bottle back, whilst I knew I was pushing the Ferrari a bit too much, so I could at least feel that coming.

But if you love speed, like I do, thats what its all about.

My ambition, in life is o own my own racing car.

We can live in hope!

I used to do a bit of amateur rallying back in the stone age. I drove 3 cars - A 1500 GT Anglia (which I modified from the standard 997cc model) , a mini cooper and latterly a MK1 RS1600 Escort with the 16 valve BDA engine - which really was something else!

I see in Northampton's local rag that four caravans' full of travellers have recently parked up in a now vacant Focus DIY outlet car park, which is across the other side of town from where I live.

I wonder if they are from Dale Farm, Basildon, Essex?

The article goes on to say:

In February, the Chronicle & Echo reported how the number of illegal traveller camps in Northamptonshire had fallen by almost 64 per cent during the past two years.

A report before a meeting of the Northamptonshire Traveller Consortium Executive Board suggested the county was bucking the trend for unauthorised encampments, with only 17 reported during one snapshot month July 2010 down from 47 in the same month in 2008.

The research also showed that during the period from April 1 last year until January 31, 2011, a total of only 47 illegal encampments were found in Northamptonshire.

So I guess, unlike Basildon, Northampton have been winning their battle.

How's your town/area doing with the 'travellers'?

Driver,

You don't intimidate ME.

Just to get you jealous.

I have a 6.2litre, 6 plus ton Chevrolet.

Once started, difficult to stop.

Won't tell you my top speed, it may embarrass you.

Actually, it is 17 year old American RV.

One of the few good things out of America.

Slow, but at least I can have a cup of coffee if (or when) it breaks down.

Driving it has made me aware of the "fragility" of other vehicles and I drive a lot more slowly than in my youth.

Perhaps, just aware of my mortality,

Time Machine!

Barak Obama and David Cameron are shown a time machine which can see 100 years into the future.

They both decide to test it by asking a question each.

Barak goes first.

What will the USA be like in 100 years time

The machine whirrs and beeps and goes into action and gives him a printout, he reads it out "The country is in good hands under the new president, crime is non-existent, there is no conflict, the economy is healthy. There are no worries

David thinks Its not bad this time machine, I'll have a bit of that so he asks

What will Great Britain be like in 100 years time?

The machine whirrs and beeps and goes into action, and he gets a printout.
David just stares at it.

Come on David says Barak, What does it say

Dave replies,

Buggered if I know ! It's all in Arabic!

Skinny,

Your post is obviously mostly fantasy.
How could anyone believe it will take 100 years for the UK to be a Muslim country, around 40 to 50 is my prediction.

Q I wonder how long it will be before we see a Muslim Gypsy site, with a minaret in the middle. With planning permission of course, granted by the head Mullah.

Note...Your post copied and forwarded to several people for a good laugh.

Aldwickk,

Saw it on the news yesterday.
My thoughts were.

1 This is not art, it is simply someone who has got an idea, and is going to be paid a vast amount of cash to play with a floating bit of junk.

2 A total waste of money.

3 He should get a proper job.

As I read yesterday. Don't blame the Emperor if no one can see he has no clothes.
