THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Dear Wife,

Im writing you this letter to tell you that Im leaving you forever. Ive been a good man to you for 7 years & I have nothing to show for it.

These last 2 weeks have been hell.

Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today & that was the last straw. Last week, you came home & didnt even notice I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal & even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in 2 minutes, & went straight to sleep after watching all of your soaps. You dont tell me you love me anymore; you dont want sex or anything that connects us as husband & wife. Either youre cheating on me or you dont love me anymore; whatever the case, Im gone.

Your EX-Husband
P.S. dont try to find me. Your SISTER & I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!

.........................................

Dear Ex-Husband

Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter.

Its true you & I have been married for 7 years, although a good man is a far cry from what youve been. I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining & griping Too bad that doesnt work. I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the 1st thing that came to mind was You look just like a girl! Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you cant say something nice, I didnt comment. And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork 7 years ago. About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, & I prayed it was a coincidence that my sister had just borrowed $50 from me that morning.

After all of this, I still loved you & felt we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for 10 million dollars, I quit my job & bought us 2 tickets to Jamaica But when I got home you were gone.. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.

I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you wont get a dime from me.

So take care.

Signed,
Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell & Free!

P.S. I dont know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. Hope thats not a problem.

Niceonecyril,

Nice to see a straight talking investor who tells it how it is, IE the big investors out there, don't care a hoot about what happens as long as they make money.
A bit like most politicians, remember Tony Blair, 'I'm a straight sort of guy', yer ain't they all.

It's a sort of 'uncomfortable moment'.

A bit like when you've poured your cereal into the bowl and then realised that you haven't got any milk in the house.

..Huge Silver Haul Found On WWII Shipwreck
Sky News 1 hour 11 minutes
..
.Huge Silver Haul Found On WWII Shipwreck
....A team of shipwreck explorers has discovered the largest known haul of precious metals ever found in the sea.

Odyssey Marine Exploration located the wreck of the SS Gairsoppa in international waters, around 300 miles off the coast of Ireland.

The British cargo ship was sunk by a German U Boat in February 1941 while in operation as part of the war effort.

It was torpedoed two months after leaving India with its cargo.

The vessel had run low on fuel and became separated from the rest of its convoy when it was spotted by the Germans.

Only one of the 32 crew who managed to escape in lifeboats survived.

It is believed it was carrying more than seven million ounces of silver, worth 600,000 according to the valuation at the time. That is 132m at today's prices.

The wreck is 4,700 metres (2.92 miles) below the surface.

Video and photo footage of the Gairsoppa were obtained by the team after sending a remotely operated vehicle to the wreck.

Neil Cunningham Dobson, Odyssey's Principal Marine Archaeologist, said: "Even though records indicate that the lifeboats were launched before the ship sank, sadly most of her crew did not survive the long journey to shore.

"By finding this shipwreck, and telling the story of its loss, we pay tribute to the brave merchant sailors who lost their lives."

The contract to recover the wreck was awarded to Odyssey by the government in 2010.

As part of the deal, the company will retain 80% of the value of the silver recovered

Doritos Creator Dead, to be Buried with Chips

Arch West, a former Frito-Lay executive and creator of Doritos, will be buried with the chips that made him famous.

The 97-year-old died of natural causes on Sept. 20 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas, his family confirmed in a statement over the weekend.

During a graveside service scheduled for 10:30 a.m. this Saturday at the Restland Memorial Park, his family has plans to toss Doritos chips in "before they put the dirt over the urn," West's daughter Jana Hacker told The Dallas Morning News.

Skinny,

Have you no compassion for the prisoner, after all light rain was forecast for that day.
Just imagine if he had caught a cold whilst being walked to the court, he could have sued the Police authority (on legal aid of course), no doubt being awarded compensation, that could have cost far more than the van trip.
We must learn to look at the bigger picture! (don't you just love that sound bite).

But seriously, no wonder with such examples of monetary waste we are in such a mess.

skinny - 27 Sep 2011 08:53 - 12435 of 81564

Greek - quite honestly, it makes me feel sick.

greekman - 27 Sep 2011 09:23 - 12436 of 81564

Fully agree, but there is little we as individuals can do, but we can try.
I have just sent an e-mail to my local Conservative MP stating that I no longer wish to assist re delivering leaflets for the party.
I initially wished to assist in order to get the Labor party out, no so much because I believed in the Conservatives.
To my mind David Cameron, is very good on the rhetoric, but is poor on action.
We still bend over backwards to Europe with all the hang-on of the Court Of Human rights and all the other Euro diktats, assisted of course by our dyed in the wool Liberal partners (sic).
Unless things alter, I can see situations of public protests such as is occurring in Greece and several other countries, and I will be in the front line (purely peaceful though).
Democracy is being killed by the EU.
If our so called leaders don't allow democracy, then how can they expect us to.

aldwickk - 27 Sep 2011 09:40 - 12437 of 81564

Its a small price to pay for our human rights , am very happy to pay my income tax for such freedom's in this wonderful multi cultured country that New Labour under the leadership of one of the greatest Prime minsters this country as ever had , Tony Blair.

Why don't you boys form the Vigilantism Party, or even the Them and Us Party.

Good to see that we have the con coalition government leading us into a recession and blaming the world situation for their incompetence.

Perhaps, Aids for PM and Greek in charge of the Home Office.

niceonecyril - 27 Sep 2011 12:21 - 12441 of 81564

Greekman, not quite sure about the trader, who dreamt of a recession so "he " could make lots of money for his employees and himself? However as the interviewer said,he was candid about the situation.Sad sad are those who care so little for fellow humans and
just shows what greed can do.
I've little time for T Blair or his wife, still to watch last nights Dispatches on TB's dealings,
but don't think it put him in a good light?
