THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Haystack

What happens now then ?

Haystack - 05 Oct 2011 13:39 - 12497 of 81564

Is it a scam or a mistake?

I have emailed Camelot and the Lottery commission complaints body. I await a reply.

Does anyone have a raffle ticket beginning with 'B' for last night? I can't find anyone so far.

Fred1new - 05 Oct 2011 14:14 - 12498 of 81564

No, but I wish I did.

If I won, not sure what to do with the cash.

By a Cat Flap for Cruella, or pay my debt card down, or increase my borrowings.

Perhaps. I could become a money lender.

Fascinating, a fancy U-turn U-turn in the middle of a conference.

Not bad going.

Will Cameron, make another before the end of the day.

------------------

Being semi-serious, for a moment, it seems that one problem with this present government is their political naivety and lack of managerial ability.

Few of present tory leadership have been in charge of anything larger than an ice cream cart and are basically too immature for the responsibilities they have at the moment.

The activist membership have little political forethought and have no strategy to deal with the present difficulties and rely on chanting out dated mantras, and tea party rants, to and about others.

--------------

The economic period we are in would benefit from advice from some of the cons party elders (unless they are too senile or fixate ideologues) and not party PR advisers.

------------------------------

I have to admit although Vince Cable has been a disappointment, I would prefer him as Chancellor to Osborne.

------------------------

Skinny, apologies. Didn't know you were so sensitive.

No defence for "defense".

My spelling check "threw it up" and I succumbed.

Weather delays launch of Sittingbourne's floating sun

An "artificial sun" measuring more than 60ft wide has been inflated ahead of its launch into the sky over Kent.

Sounds like they could have used Cameron, he is full of hot air.

-----------

Told that he is going to finish his speech on a high note.

Hope it is his resignation!

That's no age - I clearly remember the 1981 Ashes Test at Headingley.

Just take a look at the raffle numbers for ALL the draws. Secondly I can't find anyone who's ticket begins with a 'B'.they are all 'C's.

The letters are sequential missing out A, E, I, O and U

Here is the list since April the last two are Friday and yesterday. See the pattern! The last two don't fit.

TOP 10 LOTTERY PREDICTION CONSPIRACY THEORIES

Stan - 05 Oct 2011 16:15 - 12506 of 81564

Another one goes today as well, Folk musician Bert Jansch dies aged 67.

Didn't know he was ill.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-15179959

Haystack - 05 Oct 2011 16:17 - 12507 of 81564

This is not a conspiracy theory as no one could win it with the wrong set of numbers. It looks more like a mistake.

The Euro raffle takes the actua lset of numbers issued and randomly chooses one of them for 1m. It looks like they used last Friday's set of numbers hence no winner. I still have found no one with a ticket beginning with anything else than 'C'.

Haystack - 05 Oct 2011 16:23 - 12508 of 81564

I used to go to a folk club at the back of a pub in Tottenham Rd and watch Bert Jansch and John Renbourne with a few other musicians. They became the group called the Pentangle. I found my membership card recently. It was The New Contempory Folk Club

I just found a reference to it in the International Times

http://www.internationaltimes.it/page.php?i=IT_1967-04-28_B-IT-Volume-1_Iss-12_012&view=text

folk: Bert Jansch with John Renbourne and Jacqui
McShee, every Sunday at tile Oxford Room,
Horseshoe Hotel, Tottenham Court Road, The New
Contemporary Folk club. 7:30 p.m.. Members: 7/6.
Annual membership 5/-.

I don't know if anyone remembers IT. Their best front page was

"We are the people our parents warned us about"

skinny - 05 Oct 2011 16:25 - 12509 of 81564

5 bob Annual membership :-)

Stan - 05 Oct 2011 16:28 - 12510 of 81564

Bert Jansch was on my "one to see live in concert list".. to late now.

Haystack - 05 Oct 2011 16:33 - 12511 of 81564

It was the pub just to the left of the Dominion cinema at the corner of Oxford St and Tottenham Court Rd. It was in the back, just a small room with sometimes just about 20 of us. We all used to drink at the bar together audience and musicians. Then we would take a sort of vote when to start another session. Renbourne was and is also very good. He was more melodic.

Stan - 05 Oct 2011 17:00 - 12512 of 81564

Yes, I did see John Renbourne 2/3 years back in Oxford.

Stan - 05 Oct 2011 17:03 - 12513 of 81564

No doubt there will be some sort of tribute on Folk on 2 tonight (or whatever it's called now) 7pm.
