Rockhopper was established in 2004 with a strategy to invest in and undertake an offshore oil exploration programme in the North Falkland Basin. It was floated on AIM in August 2005. Rockhopper was the first company to make a commercial oil discovery in the Falklands. Today Rockhopper is the largest acreage holder in the North Falkland Basin, with interests in the Greater Mediterranean region.

I think we should see quite a rise today as an announcement is likely over the long weekend or Tues first thing and you want to be in if it's good and i do think it will be very good.

required field - 28 May 2010 09:45 - 1259 of 6294

You are putting too much value on the stock....there are loads of companies with big assets in the ground, you cannot just take that as full value....RKH has made what seems a superb discovery,....but nothing 100% certain yet....the costs for infrastructure will be enormous, and they might have to foot the bill for the whole lot as unless DES or FOGL or BOR make one as well !. then the cost could be spread around a bit, so a discovery by some of the others could help a little.
GKP is a different proposition.....even though they operate in a risky place....they have at the moment a lot more oil than this one....170 million being 600p....ridiculous.....then what's 2 billion : 30 quid, just as silly !...

cynic - 28 May 2010 09:55 - 1260 of 6294

mitzy is the nodding dog! .... her eyes light up if you spank her!

Proselenes - 28 May 2010 09:57 - 1261 of 6294

rf, what you miss you is that GKP appear to be hiding the porosity, permeability and other figures. Why is that ?

The big thing you are missing is the license problems on GKP, its massive.....and until and unless its resolved all the oil they may have is worth bugger all.

Stop trying to compare Kurdistan with license issues to British territorial waters with a superb fiscal regime for oil production.

That is your problem, and why you were selling this at 90p and saying its too high...... ;)

required field - 28 May 2010 09:58 - 1262 of 6294

It's going to be tempting to take some profits here....not sure what to do.....everybody's waiting for this announcement but this would have to rise by almost 80p in the last week...that's quite a lot....

Proselenes - 28 May 2010 10:00 - 1263 of 6294

rf, you were selling at 90p !!!!! and saying it was up too much and it was a sell.

You have serious issues with your ability to value stocks.

:)

required field - 28 May 2010 10:05 - 1264 of 6294

It's you who are comparing the two....Iraq is risky...but when it comes right....just drop the subject then...at the time and it was 98p....at the time it was the right thing to do because the sp pulled back by 18p or so....did not expect a second rns, I think it was the next day.....remember at the time....of course now several rns's on...should have stayed put....one day something like that will happen to you.....unless you have all your eggs in one basket....

required field - 28 May 2010 10:06 - 1265 of 6294

Are you one of those paid rampers ?...it sounds like it !...

cynic - 28 May 2010 10:08 - 1266 of 6294

without comment ..... AFR cap 800m ..... GKP cap 620m .... DES cap 250m ..... DGO cap 2.13b ..... HOIL cap 1.29b

required field - 28 May 2010 10:11 - 1267 of 6294

RKH 450m....so far....and we are at the start....need a few more wells drilled here to be sure...

cynic - 28 May 2010 10:15 - 1268 of 6294

was just about to post that, so thanks
several possible and sensible plays here

Proselenes - 28 May 2010 10:15 - 1269 of 6294

rf, no, but I like to point out the incorrect posts by jealous non-holders who have their cash stuck in other oilers where the SP is going nowhere, and who are so wound up they missed RKH that they have to relieve themselves posting nonsense on here about being overpriced at 90p and then saying overpriced at 120p and then saying overpriced at 180p and then saying overpriced at 220p and now saying overvalued at near 270p........

:) LOL

required field - 28 May 2010 10:28 - 1270 of 6294

Look, if the price goes up it goes up...good...but sp's also go down.....and this is quite high....when the flow tests with several intervals each flowing 10000 barrels comes in....then a 350sp or even more would be right....perhaps on tuesday, who knows ?...but I gather we are not getting a full test....I'm in but I will have to take profits sooner or later as this sp can go anywhere very quickly...

Proselenes - 28 May 2010 10:34 - 1271 of 6294

You see, EVO (who have a proper oil analyst department) said a flow tested Sea Lion would be worth around 600p to 700p if its 170M barrels in size.

Now they are doing side wall coring, which means really a flow test is not needed as an essential really to declare commercial or not.

The key thing is, there is loads of upside to come even if the find is "only" 170M barrels.

Should the estimates be larger.......well........ the price will be much much higher again.

Keep on trying to talk it down....... at least it keeps the thread busy :)

cynic - 28 May 2010 10:34 - 1272 of 6294

glad i have L2 as sp and order book will be interesting to watch as long w/e approaches

greekman - 28 May 2010 10:40 - 1273 of 6294

Proselenes/Required Field,

I agree re those who said 'sell at 90p as it's too high should keep stum now regarding buy/sell.
As to the 'current' valuation, I think it is somewhere between both your views. Yes as you say (Proseleness) if the final drill results are as expected, coupled with their further prospects, 600p per share is probably on the very low side, but as you say (RF) nothing is 100% certain.
I am very positive re the next RNS, but things can still go wrong.
RF....As to cost of infrastructure, remember RKH are a drill/discovery company, not a producer. If they need more cash, I am sure they will easily obtain it, especially when the Major producers come sniffing around.

Regards Greek.

I though the rig had moved to it's next destination.....or have they left some people behind in a dinghy ?, so how are they doing coring if no rig is there ?....sorry...not an expert but you seem to have loads of info...2 teams out there ?...

required field - 28 May 2010 10:45 - 1275 of 6294

What's pushing it is the fact that it is in british waters...that makes a huge difference !...

HARRYCAT - 28 May 2010 10:52 - 1276 of 6294

Go with the flow rf. Trade some, hold some maybe?
DES also moved up 3% for no particular reason, but not complaining! ;o)

required field - 28 May 2010 10:55 - 1277 of 6294

That's what I'm doing....within a sipp....or a spread...by the way : Marky will be a millionaire soon !...he has loads of them...
