VOG is presently drilling Well 104 in its West Medvezhye field,and expected to reach depth in 4 weeks from spud date of 30th June, that makes 27th July(this week).
Results of testing will be sometime mid/late August, with a positive outcome
it could be HUGH.
With estimates of 134BILLION cubic metres of GAS and 201 Million barrels of Gas
Condensate,it will be a Company Maker. The field is in the area of the largest gas field in the WORLD.
Other assets include Kemerkol in Kazakhstan, with C1 reserves of 8.7MBO
and C2 reserves of7.8MBO. Another acquistion is Tamdykol with potental
reserves of 34MBO, it also has interest in 2 blocks in the North Sea.

It has excellent management team led by Kevin Foo, who hopes to turn it into
a Mid Cap Company(�500m+) in the not to distant future.

an interesting late trade ..... approx 850k @ 90p = surely a buy, though i would hazard a guess at closing a major short position ..... if a true buy, then very encouraging ...... only this trade that took the volume above the 3 month average

I have learnt that there has been a large seller around which has forced sp down, but with luck, most of that stock has now been absorbed ..... fingers crossed for the coming week(s)

cynic - closing a major short is oftenmore important than "a tue buy". They are all buys anyway and MMs generally always run a balanced book. Remember that - they are moving the price dependent on what their book looks like and nothing more.

confess i got into VOG almost by accident insofar as i had never heard of them until i joined LSE (can no longer be bothered with it) ..... at that time, LSE had some very good correspondents, and though i was initially advised to buy at around 90p, i did not get in until a while later.

to cut a long story short, i made quite a lot of money out of the stock by trading "surplus" to my core ...... confess i stupidly bought back in when the price dropped to 200p instead of following my own advice ..... dumb ass ..... ultimately liquidated all but bought back at 73 ands 104.

overall VOG certainly has a cap of approx 3x FEP's which makes it much more liquid.... also, i would be very surprised if VOG do not come up trumps sooner rather than later and they also seem to have some good contacts and even HoA tending towards actual contracts ...... while it is true Kaz is bandit country, so for sure are the Philippines.

as far as i can see, FEP have indeed made a great discovery, but patently lack the wherewithal to extract it, and even once that is secured, the sory is that it could take 7 years to do so! ..... perhaps the stock is worth buying on t/o prospects, but that is always risky logic.

Never buy on t/o prospects.

Well 103 Update for West Medvezhye Project, Russia

Victoria Oil & Gas Plc, the AIM-quoted oil and gas company focused on the Former
Soviet Union, today announces that it has reached target depth of 3,885 metres
on Well 103 at its West Medvezhye gas and condensate project and has begun open-
hole logging operations. Drilling continued ultimately to a total depth of 3,900
metres in order to confirm intersection of the Upper Jurassic horizon

and does this tell us anything either good or bad?

un-decided, another wait for the next one,still inconclusive for good or bad.

What going on here?

I thought they were aiming at 3885 metres.

pre-opening on IG has marked VOG up 1.5p ..... if there were concerns, sp would have been sharply lower (hope that proves so!)

true, but not significantly ..... if news had been poor, sp would have been down 10p at opening ..... almost certainly just a bit a "casual" selling

Not sure there are concerns here, I am guessing that they wanted to make sure they hit all horizons.

Thats why it would be nice to have someone who may have a better idea, comment.

What is happening to VOG now? sigh!

Now down 10p, presumably confidence has gone as delays on clear results normally indicate bad news, anyone have any insight here other than speculation?
It's pure gambling now and not sure whether to cut my losses.

Have investigated a bit and will put it as briefly as possible, and thus probably oversimplify.

Under new FSIA rules, Nomads have to be whiter than white. As a result, an RNS may be issued where one would not have been in the past, purely so the Nomad's back is covered.

The RNS here is just such a one - i.e. it tells us nothing, but nor should anything untoward be interpreted into it, just because of that.

Further, just because the "target depth" has been reached, does not mean that gas (in this case) should be expected to come thundering out of the ground. There is plenty more work required including professional and third party evaluation.

Thanks cynic - I have seen RNS's of this type before and unfortunately they can have this effect on an sp because the Market tends to err on the side of caution.

If VOG have hit commercial targets, it will recover and then some.

Choices involved in buying in the first place probably have not changed, yet!

I agree, SWW - I see no reason to bale out now.

the basics have not changed, though of course there are no guarantees that VOG will have the gas version of a gusher even this time .... just damn well hope they do, or just somehting commercial would suffice! ..... not particularly exposed, so will stay put almost regardless
