What is happening to VOG now? sigh!

robvernon - 04 Oct 2006 10:55 - 1284 of 2511

Now down 10p, presumably confidence has gone as delays on clear results normally indicate bad news, anyone have any insight here other than speculation?
It's pure gambling now and not sure whether to cut my losses.

cynic - 04 Oct 2006 11:12 - 1285 of 2511

Have investigated a bit and will put it as briefly as possible, and thus probably oversimplify.

Under new FSIA rules, Nomads have to be whiter than white. As a result, an RNS may be issued where one would not have been in the past, purely so the Nomad's back is covered.

The RNS here is just such a one - i.e. it tells us nothing, but nor should anything untoward be interpreted into it, just because of that.

Further, just because the "target depth" has been reached, does not mean that gas (in this case) should be expected to come thundering out of the ground. There is plenty more work required including professional and third party evaluation.

seawallwalker - 04 Oct 2006 11:27 - 1286 of 2511

Thanks cynic - I have seen RNS's of this type before and unfortunately they can have this effect on an sp because the Market tends to err on the side of caution.

If VOG have hit commercial targets, it will recover and then some.

Choices involved in buying in the first place probably have not changed, yet!

soul traders - 04 Oct 2006 11:41 - 1287 of 2511

I agree, SWW - I see no reason to bale out now.

cynic - 04 Oct 2006 11:42 - 1288 of 2511

the basics have not changed, though of course there are no guarantees that VOG will have the gas version of a gusher even this time .... just damn well hope they do, or just somehting commercial would suffice! ..... not particularly exposed, so will stay put almost regardless

soul traders - 04 Oct 2006 11:44 - 1289 of 2511

Cynic, my thoughts pretty much exactly. I'd be slightly happier if my holding was worth more than exactly what I paid for it, but I've come this far precisely because I want to find out what's at the bottom of Well 103 and I'm not going to give up now.

seawallwalker - 04 Oct 2006 11:56 - 1290 of 2511

Well done soul and cynic.

About right imo.

Now what did you think of GRV?

Do I take your silence as "Not a lot?"

soul traders - 04 Oct 2006 12:10 - 1291 of 2511

Haven't had the time re GRV, Seawall, sorry. I've had so much going on with oilers recently (and as you know it has backfired with FEP) so am giving my head a little bit of a rest.

seawallwalker - 04 Oct 2006 12:23 - 1292 of 2511

Thanks soul.

Understood.

cynic - 04 Oct 2006 13:36 - 1293 of 2511

had a look at GRV and was underwhelmed .... i am very stupid, so perhaps i missed something, but i don't think so

seawallwalker - 04 Oct 2006 13:46 - 1294 of 2511

Thanks cynic - it's the first impression I wanted to hear.

So that will do.

hlyeo98 - 06 Oct 2006 08:22 - 1295 of 2511

Why is VOG down again today?

cynic - 06 Oct 2006 08:38 - 1296 of 2511

general weakness among small oilies (SEY excepted!) ...... lack of real news ..... margin calls on victims of betting share collapse

jkd - 06 Oct 2006 23:18 - 1297 of 2511

cynic , margin calls on betting share collapse? grabbing at straws? you is the cynic. are you now the optimist? think about it. can our money be better invested elsewhere? please just try to take time out and consider. i'm flat so have no bias. best regards to you.

cynic - 07 Oct 2006 08:45 - 1298 of 2511

no jkd, i was being quite serious ..... if peeps have sudden calls on margin, as undoubtedly will have happened to many who held SBT, PRTY and the like, then it is far from unlikely that they will have needed to sell other stocks to meet that call.... Further, those who hold/held the likes of SBT and PRTY are the sort of peeps who would also hold VOG and other third line stocks.

with regard to VOG, my holding is fairly modest and has an average price of about 88 ..... i actually think that there is at least an 80% chance that VOG will come up with a some quite significant finds, and despite the inherent risks of Kazakhstan, the investment looks pretty good if still quite risky.

janetbennison - 09 Oct 2006 16:40 - 1299 of 2511

victoria oil now at .76and a quarter pence seems to be fading away fast. When is the next news due.

bonfield - 10 Oct 2006 09:11 - 1300 of 2511

not for widows and orphans this one. Anyone know what happened about this debt financing they were talking about? I remember an RNS and a spike in price at the time but have heard nowt since. Also is there anymore drilling news expected this year or was that it?

skyhigh - 10 Oct 2006 09:42 - 1301 of 2511

grim isn't it!

steve52 - 10 Oct 2006 09:45 - 1302 of 2511
