THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Looks like the bottom is just about to fall out of the Solar Panel Market.

Anyone considering an installation would need

1. a quote
2. accepted
3. installed (to get to this stage is usually going to take about 4-6 weeks)
4. certified by their power supplier (if you took it by hand to them, it still might take them a couple of weeks to do it)

all by December 12th

Importantly, payback times are going to move from around '8 years before you get your money back' (ie. 12% return on investment) to around '20 years before you get your money back' (ie. 4-5% roi)

The Tobin tax looks like being dead in the water. A EU wide tax would see financial transactions being done outside the EU to the disadvantage of members of the EU. The way it is proposed, traders would likely do fewer bigger trades increasing volatility. Even Osborne is in favour of a global Tobin tax, but EU wide looks like being a problem.

I see that the Muslim group, Muslims against Crusaders, that caused outrage at last years Armistice Day by burning a poppy (the poppy burner was fined 50) are planning a further disruption on Nov 11th with a 'Hell for Heroes' campaign.
They have sort permission from the Police to hold a rally, stating their aim is to chant and disrupt the minutes silence.

I would bet that, due to their human right to protest, permission is given.

I wonder what would happen, if I contacted the Police requesting permission for a protest against the Muslim Brotherhood, stating I intended to disrupt a service by standing outside a Mosque whilst burning a copy of the Koran.

I bet my feet wouldn't touch.
I would be arrested for racial hatred, incitement to cause racial hatred and incitement to cause harassment, harm and distress.

As no doubt my crimes would be judged, Racist, I would be not be given a token fine of 50, but receive a jail sentence of several months.

I will wait and see what the outcome will be, but I won't hold my breath to see if we are all equal under the law.

No wonder people are angry.
If I lived anywhere near London, I would be one of those anti Muslim against Crusades protesters.

Enoch Powell will be proved right and it will be this countries weak leaders that will allow it to be so.

Fred1new - 31 Oct 2011 18:09 - 12906 of 81564

Greek,

Could this be seen as incitement.

Which of course I assume you would be against!

aldwickk - 31 Oct 2011 21:06 - 12907 of 81564

Enoch Powell was proved right even before the EU and Blair's New Labour opened the flood gates to uncontrolled immigration.

greekman - 01 Nov 2011 06:59 - 12908 of 81564

Hi Aldwick,

Agreed, but we ain't seen nothing yet!.

Yesterdays projected figures for the population for around 2050 show that two thirds of all birth in the UK will be to immigrant families.
I remember a couple of years ago a Muslim Preacher saying that through births the UK will be prominently none indigenous white within 30 years.
With immigrants on average having twice the birth rate of none immigrants, he will be right.
No doubt some will think me racist for my comments, but I am a great believer in other cultures and religions having their rights, as long as they do not harm or interfere with others. If I went to live in a foreign country I would expect to learn the language, at least to a standard to allow me to get by without help from the state, I would not expect my beliefs (not difficult as I am an atheist) to be allowed to interfere with other.
What I would expect is to conform with their laws and traditions, not to have every whim of my Britishness pandered to at every turn, giving me far more rights than the locals.
We are second class citizens in our own country!

I don't blame people from anywhere in he word coming here to give birth.

NHS is free for everyone in the world, so they use and misuse it.

greekman - 01 Nov 2011 07:33 - 12910 of 81564

Hi Ahoj,

Fully agree. I blame the soft touch UK.

A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money.

The first does a total makeover. She goes to a fancy beauty salon, gets her hair done, new makeup; buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.
The man was impressed.

The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much..
Again, the man is impressed.

The third invests the money in the stock market She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.

Obviously, the man was impressed.

The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.

Then he married the one with the biggest tits.

Men are like that, you know.

And on another note!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

Mnamreh,

Your right its not free for everyone, but read this.

NHS writes off more than 40m in unpaid bills owed by foreign nationals.
Total figure could be more than 50 million.
Also under current rules, foreign nationals residing in the UK and paying taxes are entitled to free treatment on the NHS, and that comes into effect as soon as they become residents, even although many have never worked or contributed to the NHS.
As to initial emergency treatment, it is never refused, so it is free in that sense of the word, as very few ever pay for it.
I know we have enough scroungers of our own, but thats another problem!

ahoj - 01 Nov 2011 08:33 - 12919 of 81564

Foreign students get free treatment too.

In EU countries any student should insure itself and its family before getting the visa. Here, they come to study and treat cancer, aids for their family (sometimes extending to grandparents etc.

They used to even claim benefits. I don't know the current rules.

Are these right?

greekman - 01 Nov 2011 08:58 - 12920 of 81564

Benefits,

Last year 21 million pounds in child benefits alone was paid out to 50,000 children who live abroad, purely due to the fact that one of their parents lives in the UK.
Anyone tell me the sense in that!

As to foreign student, in most circumstances they can not claim benefits, but if you are an EEA National you will be entitled to use the National Health Service (NHS), which offers free health care paid for by British tax-payers. The following NHS treatments are free:

- some emergency treatment (but not follow-up treatment)
- family planning services
- treatment of certain communicable diseases
- compulsory psychiatric treatment.

EEA Nationals can claim ALL treatments free.

Whilst a reciprocal agreement works for UK students studying in other EEA countries, very few UK residents study in other EEA countries and it is far harder to receive treatments free due to their health systems.

None EEA Nationals still qualify for full NHS treatment if they meet the following conditions:

If your course lasts six months or more. In England and Wales, if you have a husband, wife or children accompanying you as your dependents (not just as your visitors), they can also receive treatment. However, the children must be under the age of sixteen (or nineteen, if in full-time education).

So come to the UK to study and bring the whole family, why not, the UK taxpayer will look after you.

ahoj - 01 Nov 2011 09:29 - 12921 of 81564

People from EU countries come here with their familieeees, one of them work for a week or two. They will be entitled to housing benefit, council house etc, never mind the treatment which is not available to them in their own country.
