THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Not advice. Just my valuation. I have said many times that there is nothing wrong with buying Blinkx despite its silly valuation because money can be made from it in the short term before people find out what a silly company it is.

Someone's little darlings.

Rowan Williams, as an individual and the leader of quite a substantial group of individuals, is entitled to give his opinion on economic matters.

At the least his opinions are usually thought out and not knee jerk reactions based on short term "self interest".

Also, he is CEO of quite a successful ongoing business with significant UK and over sea's exposure.

(Not sure what the employment numbers are, for his variety of "church".)

Also, his argument has quite a lot support and if the policy was implemented, "may" lead to a dampening down of a crazy market.

==================

He seems, to me, often talk more sense than the present "lame duck coven" in government.

N,

I agree with you, Greek does write a lot of rubbish.

----------------

Actually, I think P. may be right in using a "referendum" to settle the "Greek" problem.

It may quiet the "mobs" on the street, by giving them a sense of "responsibility" for their own destiny. (Even, if it is an illusion.)

It may also stop a "military coup".

It is widely being reported that Rowan Williams is following the Vatican line over the way to handle the banks. That is a bit rich considering the Vatican's previous handling of the Vatican Bank and the scandles associated with it.

I think, while we are on the subject of a substantial group of individuals, we ought to consider the opinions of the various train spotting organisations and people who fish regularly not forgetting football supporters. Why not ask all the groups who are unlikely to know? To describe Rowan Williams as a CEO is a bit bizzare. I am sure that the CoE is run by administrators. Aren't they called the Church Commissioners?

Don't forget the 'cheese makers' because as JC once said, "Blessed are the cheese makers"!

N,

Some say that it needs a lot of "balls" to be in the market as it is at the moment.

I think those are the assets which should be confiscated.

8+)

Hays,

I "believe", even you can learn from your previous mistakes.

I know it will be a bit difficult for you, but give it a try, it is possible.

Honest!

Look at these two charts of the Dow. The Dow is close to an all time high again. The rise from beginning of October was virtually the fastest ever rise. This is happening at a time when we have one of the worst if not actually the worst depression ever. It is not sustainable. There has be a major correction. As an aside, companies like Blinks which is on a P/E ration of 65 to 1 are going to crash with the Dow. It is funny to see comments on variuous BBs that the P/E ratio should mean Potential/Earnings ratio. I haven't seen that sort of fantasy mentioned since the .com boom and bust.

The first since 1930 with the Nasdaq to compare and the second, just for a year.

A few hedge funds batteredand a lot of explaining to do! lol

In 2011, a growing list of prominent managers announced they were throwing in the towel on a business that was once the it spot on Wall Street. Carl C. Icahn, for one, announced in March that he was returning outside investors money in his $7 billion hedge funds.
Another fundamental shift was outlined in late October 2011, when the Securities and Exchange Commission approved new rules that would impose sweeping disclosure requirements on large hedge funds and other private investment advisers, a first for an industry that has long eluded Washington oversight.

Report: U.K. preparing for military strike on Iran nuclear facilities

The Guardian newspaper says U.K. increasingly concerned over Iran's enrichment program, and is preparing to deploy warships to assist a possible U.S. strike.

The U.K. is stepping up its preparations for a military strike on Iran, the Guardian newspaper reported on Wednesday. According to the report, the U.K. is increasingly concerned over Tehran's nuclear program, and is preparing to deploy Royal Navy ships in the coming months to assist a possible U.S. attack on key facilities in Iran.

The paper cited senior officials who said they believed Iran had regained its technological capabilities which were severely damaged in a cyber-attack last year. Iran said the Stuxnet worm infected personal computers of employees at the Bushehr plant, but not the plant's main systems. The New York Times reported last January that the worm was a joint Israeli-U.S. effort to undermine Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Iran's military chief warned Wednesday that an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear development sites will come at a heavy price, according to the Iranian ISNA news agency.

Responding to reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been trying to gain a majority in the cabinet for an attack on Iran, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff of Iran's armed forces, Hassan Firouzabadi, warned both Israel and the U.S. against such a move.

Meanwhile, the Israel Air Force continues conducting comprehensive drills on long-range attacks.

The last drill of this sort took place last week at the NATO base in Italy, in which six different types of air force squadrons participated. The drill was widely covered on websites around the world that specialize in aviation.

Also on Wednesday, Israel test-fired a ballistic missile at the Palmahim Israel Defense Forces base in central Israel. The test was part of an examination of a new missile currently being developed by the defense establishment. The missile left behind a fire trail that could be seen throughout central Israel.
