goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

'Immigration' under New Labour.

New Labour and Tony Blair have misled and been less than honest about immigration.

In April 2004 Blair told the British Public that he had retained control of Britain's borders for Britain when in fact he had just surrendered that control to the EU and Brussels. It was not until 2005 that Labour were forced to admit that.

Only about 10% of illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers have been sent out of the country by New Labour. The rest have 'disappeared' to live and work in the black economy illegally with little or no effort by Labour to have them found or removed.

123,000 work permits were isssued to foreign workers in just 6 months between May and December 2004 by the Government following their statements that at most 5 - 13,000 workers would require these each year !

At February 2005 the number of Illegal or Failed Asylum seekers removed had fallen by 6% on the previous quarter.

Identity Cards, which the government claims would help control illegal immigrants and terrorism, have been shown not to be able to do so. What the Government does not say is that the introduction of Identity Cards is actually to meet an EU directive.

Blair and Labour keep saying that we need immigrants as we have a shortage of workers to do the low paid jobs. Labour also claim to have significantly reduced unemployment when the reduction in the number of unemployed has been strongly mirrored by the increase in people mvoing from unemployment to long term incapacity (sickness) benefit !

The strain on Britain's economy and finances has now become so great that immigrants who settled here in the past are publicly saying there is no room for new immigrants.

Syrian army defectors have attacked a major military base near Damascus, a Syrian opposition group says.

Parts of the Air Force Intelligence building in Harasta were destroyed in the overnight attack, said the Syrian Revolution General Commission.

The Free Syrian Army used rockets and machine-guns, it said, in its highest-profile attack since protests began.

My daughter has just informed me that Tesco are doing a litre of Baileys for 9.85, saving about a tenner. Frankly I can't stand the stuff, but it might be of use to some!

Might help the unemployed to take their mind off the soaring economy.

Sorry Roaring economy.

==========================

What interests me is the number in the work force is said to be reducing.

At the same time pensioners or over 65s are being "forced", due to reduce income, into trying to, or actually returning to work.

A large number of school leavers, are fearful of applying for "further education", because of the Education fees, which have been raised by this sensitive coalition's actions. But they are being encouraged to look for employment and are being damned if they can't find a job which are not there for them in reality.

Some of those who are doing the damning having retired in their fifties, or earlier.

==================

In the 70's there was a so called "Brain Drain" out of the UK. This time around there will be a paucity of "Brain" in the colander.

It seems to me that Bertrand Russell's paper, "In Praise of Idleness", written in 1932 is even more pertinent now than then.
