THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

m - one way of not answering the question is I guess by asking one in return.

Aldwickk will answer for himself, but you just lost the argument.

M - odd you delete your last three posts? What happened to talk of marriage to Polynesians?

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2011 03:51 - 13291 of 81564

For the UNION knockers.

Im as an accountant well semi retired accountant still having to pay annual fees to the professional bodies of the 4 I passed exams with.

Ive also been a union member whilst with the Civil Service and In the retail industry and can say the fees are far greater than the fees i paid to the unions and not only that but the restrictive practices these professional bodys employ to keep people out and keep salarys high is far greater than any practice the unions used.

I hear its the same in banking and the legal industry.

So please come on lets have some fair play here.

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2011 04:06 - 13292 of 81564

Ohh and second point the reason the car industry went to the dogs wasnt because of the unions it was because management here didnt re-tool/re-capitalise plant and the japs and the germans did, beat us in the race, and at the same time paid relative higher wages. Result lower unit costs and better models.

Its always been the case that the unions carry the can, but british management have a very poor track record historicaly compared to other industrialised nations.

Goldfinger

" management here didnt re-tool/re-capitalise plant "

That's because the Union's wouldn't let them modernise because of fear of loosing job's , no more sleeping on the night shift.

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2011 08:20 - 13295 of 81564

Aldwick, if you check your history you will find the Union action in the car industry came about well after our competitors had stolen a march upon us on the technology side.

Our management tried to compete not by having the foresight to invest in new up to date plant but by trying to cut back on numbers of staff employed.

Of course the unions then reacted.

aldwickk - 21 Nov 2011 08:30 - 13296 of 81564

goldfinger , if they thought that they could produce the same number of car's with a smaller workforce then there must have been overmanning. Whatever way you look at it there would have been job loses.

goldfinger - 21 Nov 2011 09:49 - 13297 of 81564

Osbourne now trying to make out its labours fault that he has had to sell the 'Rock'.

Gideon, its still 2011 not June 2013.

Pathetic.

TANKER - 21 Nov 2011 10:36 - 13298 of 81564

gold . a question why have lloys or any uk bank have to not take any notice about EU rules when ALL eu banks have taken gov cash why are lloys not now asking questions .

Fred1new - 21 Nov 2011 16:13 - 13299 of 81564

Aids,.

Are you watching the Media Ethics Inquiry?

More interesting than many expected.

Haystack - 21 Nov 2011 16:18 - 13300 of 81564

More boring than most people expected.

Fred1new - 21 Nov 2011 16:53 - 13301 of 81564

I thought H Grant's contribution very constructive or perhaps if a member of the Tabloid Press destructive.

For me. he was very impressive.

Fred1new - 21 Nov 2011 18:45 - 13302 of 81564

Glad to hear the Cameroon has been woken up and realises that his economic policies are failing and he is "dreaming".

Listen to George's and his bleating, and excuses before another U-Turn, or will it be just listening to the "public" or city once again.

This coalition is a disaster.

If he is not up to the job he should be sacked.

=====

But it doesn't matter when the Eu kicks the UK out, all will be well again.

Fred1new - 21 Nov 2011 19:35 - 13303 of 81564

Looking at today's market chaos, and the magnificent 400million into "Housing" and threat of privatisation of the NHS. and listen to the market "gossip", it isn't the Euro-zone economic problems which is worrying them, but this country's government.

Why has the value of sterling dropped over 20% since George and Dave been in charge.

But don't worry George in his hour of need has cut off dealings with IRAN. Yippee

Can't wait until the morning, Wonder if the power will be cut off.

Fred1new - 21 Nov 2011 19:38 - 13304 of 81564

PS>

I wish the George and Dave and the rest of the cabinet would go on sickness leave.

I would encourage them to stay on the "sick".

Haystack - 21 Nov 2011 19:45 - 13305 of 81564

I am certainly happy with the coalition, except that it would be better if it was just the Conservatives (which it will be next time).

ExecLine - 21 Nov 2011 21:20 - 13306 of 81564

There is now such an anti-EU attitude growing, my 5 is on a Tory and UKIP coalition for next time.
