THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Seems sensible.

I just can't see the population of several EU countries standing for the principal of being governed in many monetary and political areas by Germany. That of course would only be the start, with mission creep similar to what occurred in the EU.
I for one would definitely take to the streets.
As I have advocated previously, I am all for none violent protest, but there does come a time when push really comes to shove, and I feel that such a line would be crossed, if Germany achieved in peacetime what they failed to achieve in 2 world wars.

I think, I would prefer Merkel to be running the UK economy than the incompetent tory bunch we have in charge at the moment,

Mind its not the fault or responsibility. It is everybody's parents who are to blame.

No U-Turn. Wait until to-morrow.

Recession more than likely.

Cameron lost and Osborne in denial.

Greek riot now.

Tim, get your banners out.

This_is_me - 28 Nov 2011 17:18 - 13430 of 81564

Yes, my father was forced to shoot Germans out of the sky to stop them.

Fred1new - 28 Nov 2011 18:58 - 13431 of 81564

I can imagine a Dad's army of TIM. Aids and Greek.

I wonder if Tanker would volunteer for Captain Mainwaring,

Haystack - 28 Nov 2011 19:32 - 13432 of 81564

It is funny, but I would have expected you to be Captain Mainwaring.

aldwickk - 28 Nov 2011 20:24 - 13433 of 81564

Haystack

Fred1new - 28 Nov 2011 22:01 - 13435 of 81564

Aids,

Don't write about Tanker like that.

You know he is sensitive.

====

By the way as you don't seem to have realise "Dad's Army" is a comedy program, not yesterday's news.

skinny - 29 Nov 2011 08:16 - 13436 of 81564

I'm in the "hate it" camp - M1 shut after 'Marmite' lorry crash in South Yorkshire

A large-scale clean-up operation is under way after a tanker carrying more than 20 tonnes of yeast extract overturned on the M1.

Stan - 29 Nov 2011 08:24 - 13437 of 81564

Care to share Tanks?

greekman - 29 Nov 2011 09:02 - 13442 of 81564

Tanker,

Surely you can't equate our MPs with Muggers, Fraudsters, Embezzler and those that have been sentenced for Misconduct in public office.

Of course all the above offenses fit many of our MPs, but if you look specifically at Misconduct in a Public Office.
Misconduct in Public Office is an offense at common law triable only on indictment. It carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. It is an offense confined to those who are public office holders and is committed when the office holder acts (or fails to act) in a way that constitutes a breach of the duties of that office.

Definition of the offense

A public officer acting as such willfully neglects to perform his duty and/or willfully misconducts himself to such a degree as to amount to an abuse of the publics trust in the office holder without reasonable excuse or justification. The culpability 'must be of such a degree that the misconduct impugned is calculated to injure the public interest so as to call for condemnation and punishment'.

This offense to my mind is what most of those that have escaped prosecution for 'fiddling their expenses' should have been deal under.

When it comes to others, such as 'Police Officers' this offense is often and quite rightly used, often on the insistence of MPs.
This offense is often far easier to prove than many others and if it had been looked at for many MPs who have escaped (got away with) prosecution, we would have seen many more in court.

I suspect the reason why it was not used, is because it would not do to show the high level of corruption in our MPs, so only a token gesture of MPs were prosecuted.

One law for them, one for us still applies.

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 09:08 - 13443 of 81564

You have just reminded me about my bread making and the second rising.

It will be alright in the end.

For many the end was Nye (Bevan), especially the doctors.
