THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Tanker,

Surely you can't equate our MPs with Muggers, Fraudsters, Embezzler and those that have been sentenced for Misconduct in public office.

Of course all the above offenses fit many of our MPs, but if you look specifically at Misconduct in a Public Office.
Misconduct in Public Office is an offense at common law triable only on indictment. It carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. It is an offense confined to those who are public office holders and is committed when the office holder acts (or fails to act) in a way that constitutes a breach of the duties of that office.

Definition of the offense

A public officer acting as such willfully neglects to perform his duty and/or willfully misconducts himself to such a degree as to amount to an abuse of the publics trust in the office holder without reasonable excuse or justification. The culpability 'must be of such a degree that the misconduct impugned is calculated to injure the public interest so as to call for condemnation and punishment'.

This offense to my mind is what most of those that have escaped prosecution for 'fiddling their expenses' should have been deal under.

When it comes to others, such as 'Police Officers' this offense is often and quite rightly used, often on the insistence of MPs.
This offense is often far easier to prove than many others and if it had been looked at for many MPs who have escaped (got away with) prosecution, we would have seen many more in court.

I suspect the reason why it was not used, is because it would not do to show the high level of corruption in our MPs, so only a token gesture of MPs were prosecuted.

One law for them, one for us still applies.

Tanker,

No I missed panorama.
I have given up watching many such programs, for the sole reason it winds me up too much.
I must admit to becoming more and more 'The angry man'.

Did this simple test. Try it yourself.

8 Simple Questions:

1 Has it ever been suggested that you might have a problem with anger?
A No!

2 Do you sometimes wonder why you get so angry, or angry so often?
A No I always know when I'm angry!

3 Do you stay angry and bitter at people that have treated you unjustly or unfairly?
A Yes, sometimes, depending how unjust or unfair!

4 Are you impatient or intolerant of yourself and others?
A Yes, sometimes!

5 Have you been told (more than once) that you have an excessive need to be "right"?
A No!

6 Do you feel, more often than not, that you do not receive the respect that you deserve?
A Yes!

7 Do you have difficulty letting others get close to you (difficulty trusting)?
A Yes! who can you trust now-days!

8 Does it feel like most of your intentions are misinterpreted or misunderstood?
Yes and No!
If yes to any two questions, you likely have a problem with anger.

If yes to any two questions, you likely have a problem with anger.

So 4 out of 8 then. According to research I have a problem with anger. What do they know, the sanctimonious b*****ds.

Watch the Panorama 'PFI' programme again at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0184xg1/Panorama_Whos_Getting_Rich_on_your_Money/

It kicks off by talking about a school that is completely devoid of any light switches. The lights are on permanently and cannot be turned off.

This is 'Barking Mad!" to say the least. The PFI company had absolutely no interest in providing a service, only with making a ton of money.

About 300bn tons of money, actually.

The whole PFI thing is an utter outrage and has been going on for 15 years! There's a Liverpool hospital used as an example, 'built on a cost to your successors bank balance, Mr Prime Minister'. And of course, Gordon Brown and New Labour was only in power for 10 years.

Marmite lorry crashes and turns into jam.

Some people will love this news, others will hate it.

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 11:24 - 13452 of 81564

ex . just listing to the program made me fill sick .
this gov and the last are useless and liars .
not one would go on the program .
why have the press not exposed this greed .

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 11:28 - 13453 of 81564

the shcool where you can not turn the electric off .
what have all these GLOBAL WARMING FREAKS GOT TO SAY ABOUT IT

ExecLine - 29 Nov 2011 11:32 - 13454 of 81564

Well, at least there's a couple of clips in the programme towards the end, one with Osborne and another with Clegg, where they seem to admit and say that PFI accounting was used to say the government was NOT borrowing money to build these schemes, when in actual fact IT WAS - and at 'inflation linked' Credit Card rates of interest too.

I wondered when watching this, why don't the hospital Trusts just default on their loan repayments?

Q. Who would be liable if they did do exactly that?

A. The hospital trustees themselves or the hospital trust?

ie. Just 'bust the trust' and then let the punters pick up the hospital assets afterwards.

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 11:52 - 13455 of 81564

good idea that . but the gov will not let that happen ,
to many skelitons to come home to roost

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 12:10 - 13456 of 81564

the money that the PFI are making is obscene and the gov thinks it good for the tax payer what a bloody joke .we may has well all become crooks it pays being honest does not

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 12:33 - 13457 of 81564

osborne opening words confidense , well the man is why confidense is falling he is a useless liar what about what he said about PFI in the election run up.

TANKER - 29 Nov 2011 12:36 - 13458 of 81564

we can not believe a word osborne says and i am a tory more so than him.
