US-focused explorer Nostra Terra Oil & Gas Company plc has split with the operator of its Kansas properties, where it says production so far has been below expectations.

The move follows a review of redevelopment operations on the properties, including engineering practices and operational efficiency, and discussions with operator Hewitt Petroleum, Inc (HPI).

The parties have entered into a settlement agreement to end their relationship.

Three properties within the Central Kansas Uplift are being redeveloped: Hoffman, in which Nostra Terra has a 25% working interest and which has two producing wells; and Boxberger and Bloom, in both of which Nostra Terra has a 75% working interest before payout, with two and three producing wells respectively.

Nostra Terra will acquire the interests of HPI and related entities in the Boxberger and Bloom properties, giving it a 100% stake. Under a newly formed operating company, it will operate both properties.The group will assign to HPI its remaining interests in all other HPI-operated assets - Hoffman, the undeveloped adjoining acreage within the Trapp field and the Koelsch property, and its interest in the Liberty #1 exploration well.

Nostra Terra will receive $1.2m in cash from the HPI entities, including $0.2m in respect of the sale of its interest in the Liberty well.

CEO Matt Lofgran said, 'Assuming operatorship of the Boxberger and Bloom properties will provide us with greater control over the pace, cost and technical aspects of field activities.

'We continue to believe there is scope to improve the performance of these two properties. In the coming months we plan to carry out additional work designed to improve the productivity of the existing wells and this work will be scoped during the closing period.'

Shares were down 0.03p at 0.34p.
