Even this morning, when the Germans and French announced they were looking at a new EU treaty, Cameron stated that, 'As not even one word has is being changed in the present EU treaty, there is no need for a referendum'.

What a play on words. This is a new treaty, so presumably the previous treaty is worth absolutely nothing.

Surely that also means that the UK can disregard anything from the previous treaty that they wish. After all if we are being sidelined, whats the point in obeying the rules of a club, when you are not a full member.

It may not be diplomatic, but the UK should tell Germany and France just were to go.
We should only obey those treaty clauses and rules, where we will benefit, and ignore those where we don't.
I can already hear people crying out that this is something we can't do, but just think that many clauses/rules that any new treaty will contain, will be enforced on the UK, by default, even if we do not become a signatory.

We are heading quickly back to the days of Germany and their friends telling other countries including the UK.

I am inclined to agree with you based on cost/benefit assessment. I think at the end of the day, these are temporary noises which should be ignored. Whatever happens, the world/countries/people will adjust themselves.

In fact, many companies are benefitting from the crises as there is no new investment, no new company or bank result in monopoly.

How many large bank exist in the world which can be relied on by big countries? The number has rapidly declined. That's extremely good for those who survive.
