Funnily enough, have just been discussing problems of children investing on Traders Thread, Nov 3. I have CGT liability for my 16 year old and he has been investing using my comdirect account. Someone suggested just opening another account using his name, initials and then there would be no tax liability to me. Sounded good and would be easy to do on comdirect (no cost) but would have to check that the tax man thought it proof enough!
sandrew, very nice idea but I would go for something more blue chip too. Perhaps you could open an ISA in the baby's name?

Give them some lloyds - it is committed to paying a fat divi year after year and being the smallest of the big 4/5 it will be the first on a foreign banks shopping list.
Just a theory. Probably complete cobblers.

I stole it from ADVFN! Explains todays rise with HNR and ROC
Stolen from Hotcopper
""This artical was published in trading room news letter which suggests the potential wealth could be raised from Mauritania discovery.
Surging oil prices and demand combined with signs of oil in two new wells have seen Woodside's share price reach stellar heights in recent times. CommSec energy sector analyst Michael Smiddy says Woodside's long-term outlook is strong, driven by Enfield, Mauritania and the Otways, among others. But this is largely reflected in the current share price. Every $US1 change in the long-run oil price changes Woodside's value by 61 cents a share.
The company's skill in exploration delivered the North-West Shelf gas discoveries and a spate of other major gas fields in the 1970s. Now Woodside, Australia's largest independent oil and gas producer, is close to its biggest prize as it targets oilfields off the coast of Mauritania in West Africa.
In Mauritania, Woodside is leading its junior partner, Hardman Resources, in a multiwell drilling program, which could add as much as a billion barrels of oil reserves to the existing Chinguetti and Tiof fields already under development. ""

DD you should be thrown off this thread for wishing it to drop :-) If you get your way, my stop loss will trigger. Perhaps I should move the stop loss for the next few days anyway as you have been on a good streak recently..

The Capitaine hole looks to have encountered water bearing rock, although they are doing a double check.
This is the reason Sterling have a free carry!
The dry holes cost them nothing except future prospects!
These look good without Capitaine.
2 out of 2 is the avarage expected realistically. Ted Ellyard of hardman stated before commencement that there was a strong possibility that 8 out of 10 holes would hit oil.
That being the case they have 2 more dry holes to hit before he gets a red face!

Price down 1/2p at 8.17am.
Just goes to show how much the mm know sometimes.
This is a free carry, so:-
Finds of oil, no rise in price.
Dry holes, drop in price.

A note on ADVFN bb. says that there is no more placing stock.
It is oversubscribed.
This does not have any validation with it, so can not be confirmed.

Looks like everyone is having a lie in.
As I can't take the pressure of holding SEY up any longer, I'm off.
I will have a look at the bounce later, because that is what it will do!
The Tiof 4 hole is an appraisal rather than exploration so as the words imply, there is oil there, but how much is the question?
Enough to fill my 3 in 1 or more?
All imho dyor fsh & gsoh etc........

Morning all, not the best start to the day after sleeping in! Wake up to a not so good drilling update! Shows the risks of oil explo shares though.
