Commencement of Mobilisation for Well 105
Mobilisation of equipment begun for new exploration well at West Medvezhye
gas and condensate project, Russia
The new well, Well 105, given gross prospective resources of 130 million
barrels of oil equivalent by DeGolyer & MacNaughton with significant
probability of geologic success
Drilling operations to commence in second quarter to planned depth of
approximately 3,850 metres
Victoria Oil & Gas Plc ('the Company')(AIM:VOG), the AIM-quoted oil and gas
company focused on the Former Soviet Union, today announces the commencement of
mobilisation for drilling of its new exploration well, Well 105, at its West
Medvezhye gas and condensate project in Russia ('the Project').
Well 105 will explore a 15 square kilometre prospect, for which independent
reserve auditors DeGolyer & MacNaughton ('D&M') have calculated a total gross
prospective resource volume of 130 million barrels of oil equivalent. D&M have
assigned to this location the highest potential success factor of those assessed
in their report on the Project dated 30 June 2006.
The prospect is a '4-way closure' with subsurface data and 2D seismic suggesting
that this location covers both structural and stratigraphic accumulations.
The principal target horizons are sandstone reservoirs at depth intervals
between 2,760 and 3,780 metres. Total planned depth for the well is
approximately 3,850 metres.
The Company has begun construction of an ice road from the site of its current
operations at Well 103 to Well 105, approximately 22 kilometres to the
northwest. Once the road is finished, the drilling rig will be moved from Well
103 to the new site at 105.
All necessary equipment is expected to have been mobilised and rigged by the end
of the first quarter of 2007 and drilling is expected to commence in the second
quarter.
Commenting today, Managing Director William Kelleher said:
'As identified by independent reserve auditors D&M, Well 105 is West Medvezhye's
most promising prospect for the discovery of gas and condensate. Favourable
weather conditions have allowed us to begin mobilisation ahead of schedule and
we aim to commence drilling operations in the second quarter of 2007. All
exploration carries a degree of risk, but D&M has assigned each of the seven
prospective horizons at this well site a significant probability of success.
This gives us great confidence in our interpretation and geologic prognosis.'

weakness this morning presumably on basis of director's share sale of about 400k shares, though for perfectly acceptable reasons ...... a good opportunity to top up if you have faith in the company to start performing in 2007

sp is actually bang on a notional support level ...... i think that boredom more than anything else is causing the weakness, though I agree that some decent news would not go amiss

cynic I know we may appear to have locked horns on this one, but i do presently agree with your last comment, apart from the boredom bit that is.
i would just like to add that support to the downside does get broken, just as resistance to upside can and does get broken also.that is part of the fascination of stock price movements. to "bet" on it is extremely dangerous. as you say "and takes your chances". thats why i am flat and staying out.
for trend followers the trend is still down, and therefor not a buy. for existing holders it is in my opinion a hold and hope with fingers crossed that this support level holds fast, contrary to the existing trend. it appears to be the last stand. the alternative of course is to sell into a bounce, which may then prove to be more than a bounce.
what a dillemma!
i guess the moral of the story is always use a stop loss and never ever average down.
that way no dillemmas.
all just my opinion
best regards to all

falcothous there may be hope for vog yet. I have had a bad time with this share. I got tempted yesterday to buy some more at 65.5p but resisted. thursday and friday both seemed to have seen vog drop quite a bit and then go back up again. I have been with this one for 18 months now. good luck to you.

Don't hold here, but I do know that Fidelity International Limited are cleasring out a fair few oilers across the section.
VOG is not an exception to their new rule.
I would not worry on that one account.
