THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Sudanese street gangs that began forming around 2003 are responsible for the most serious violence, according to Bruce Ferrell, a former gang unit detective with the Omaha Police Department.

"They've been involved in a murder attempt on a witness, drive-by shootings, robberies," said Ferrell, who now leads the Midwest Gang Investigators Association, a non-profit group that studies gang trends in the region. "We've had a number of kids getting locked up."

With no more than 350 members overall, most of them teenagers, the Sudanese gangs represent a small fraction of a massive nationwide gang problem, in which an estimated 1.4 million gang members commit nearly half of all violent crimes in most jurisdictions, according to law enforcement surveys. But their illegal acts earned them a brief mention for the first time in the FBI's latest national gang threat assessment, released this October.

The agency described African Pride, which began in Omaha but has spread to Lincoln and other Midwest cities with Sudanese refugee populations, as the "most aggressive and dangerous" of the gangs. Other gangs include the South Sudan Soldiers, TripSet and 402, who take their name from the Nebraska area code.

Sudanese community leaders in Nebraska do not deny the gangs' existence, but describe their members as misguided youths, not hardened criminals. With help from city and state agencies, Sudanese groups are working to identify at-risk young people and steer them away from crime.

"I will agree that there are Sudanese gangs in Omaha," said Malakal Goak, a Sudanese refugee and director of Caring People Sudan, an Omaha-based non-profit group that provides health and educational services to the refugee community. "But even though there are gangs, we still have a very strong culture that can redirect them to come back to a normal life of the community."

The emergence of the gangs follows a familiar pattern. Driven by poverty, social dislocation and other factors, street gangs have arisen from virtually every immigrant and refugee population to arrive in the U.S. for well over a century, according to Mike Carlie, a retired professor of criminology at the University of Southern Missouri and author of a book on street gangs.

"It's called the immigrant tradition," Carlie said. "It's something that communities should know about before they ever begin to take on a population like this."

Its happening in this country now , our government should have taken this advice .

I would suggest you look at all groups of immigrants in this country.

Jews, Irish, Poles, Italians, Yugoslavs. etc. especially those in the fifties and later

Then also relate it to the UK economy of the various periods of when they came, and the the possibilities of the different groups when they came to this country.

Also, relate it to the restrictions of getting employment in the UK.

Also check the number immigrants into this country under UN regulations and the restrictions of their employment.

Also check the amount of UK hooligans in Europe and elsewhere.

(Check the recent Australian policies regarding immigration and their reasons for relaxing their previous policies.

Christmas message to you,

Try and love thy neighbour in the new year.

That isn't the same as trying to ---- your neighbour.

" America was/is a country based on Immigrants."

And of the black slave's and the near genocide of the American Indian , Fred check when did the Black American gain civil right's, and what they had to do to get them.

Fred1new - 24 Dec 2011 14:38 - 14248 of 81564

N,

Not suggesting the USA is a success story, just pointing back to its recent recreation.

But they haven't done too badly and in some ways continuing to improve in spite of recent "blips". (But could do better.)

If you refer to sub-prime mortgage crisis, I think the low rates of loan from Japan was the initiator, or the major contribution and then subsequent "public individual greed", as well as the institutions who should have had better governances.

But present societies don't like responsibility and prefer anybody rather than themselves for their predicaments. This is bolstered by corrupt leadership.

Not sure which is the most detestable a PR advertisement man, or a a so called politician. (In the present leadership in this country we have both. (We also had Blair.)
========

Communism.

My wife lived under communism for 14 years. Many of her family were imprisoned by "communists". My father-in-law would have been shot, if he had returned to his country of origin, (Other members of the family were "higher ups" in the universities and legal systems of the same country. Different beliefs.)

I spent time as student under a communist regime, but I had already seen the weaknesses of said "communist ideology" and its practices, even before university.

Also, witnessed the failings of extreme left wing labour policies.

However, I believe a political system, which is based on self greed and self advancement at the expense of others, is eventually self defeating.

It is a fallacy to think that it the above is evolutionary, or based on Darwinian principle and leads to a better society. It leads to a more fragmented society and although personal "wealth" in "cash" measurement may be increased, "happiness" is not necessarily increased.

The strength of a body is dependant on the strength of its weakest parts. It is wise to consider those parts before starting an adventure.

Have a happy XMAS and an enjoyable New Year.
