Visiting friends for a few days , just saw what has been happening today. Ouch!Let's hope this is another case of getting bad news out of the way before a positive drilling result on Tues. Mushroom and white wine risotto tonight, margarita sorbet for pud...need a few stiff drinks after seeing this. Have a good weekend all!

Went down to Brighton last night and ended up in one of those gay bars. Got really drunk. Funny thing didn't realise drinking G&T's gave you a sore bum.

Part of an article in today's Sunday Telegraph by Edmond Jackson:
THE current best example of acquisitive development has to be Aim-listed Sterling Energy. Although I am perturbed about shareholders' loss of pre-emption rights in a current 97m fund raising, the board's track record to date is a fascinating case study.
I acknowledge that it is relatively easy to grow from a small base, that the oil price has soared and that smaller explorers have become the rage, so over the past two years Sterling shares have rallied from about 3p to test 20p. But the board's reputation was a key factor in securing City support for last December's acquisition of Fusion Oil & Gas, and doubtless that is why fund managers are backing Sterling again as it continues to acquire and develop Mauritanian interests.
This followed deals in late 2002 and spring 2003 to develop gas production in the Gulf of Mexico. One should take care with small companies rapidly taking on the world, but the chief executive's claim of "adding significant value at low cost and relatively low risk" has been borne out so far.
With the shares at 17.75p capitalising this group at 142m, I prefer to see published financial information relating to the latest deal. Yet Sterling shows how an acquisition-led strategy can indeed deliver value - especially when the market believes there is a good balance of risk management with upside potential. Long live the smart dealmakers!
Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Nice piece gav. EJ has tried to make amends for the bad editing last week.
Good for him.
Up of course dave!
Now here is a thought. We have ben a bit myopic about this so far but with there being finds at Pelican,Tiof.Tevet,Banda, I wonder if Sterling Energy can take 12% of those as well as that obtained via the Mauritannian Government so far?
