With video search set to be the next big growth area BLNX have the software the likes of Microsoft, Google and NewsCorp would love to have.

In fact BLNX have done deals with most of these, the most recent being the UtargetFox deal which has been reported in the USA but not RNS'd in the UK.

Alexa rankings confirm the continued growth in usage as its viral effect spreads:-

The ITN RNS confirms blnx is the best in the market and is growing fast:-

Leading News Organization ITN Extends Advertising Deal with blinkx Based on Proven Campaign Success

blinkx Selected to Power Advertising across ITN Website and Syndication Partner Sites

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - July 2, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest and most advanced video search engine, today announced that it has won an extension contract that will augment the scope of its advertising partnership with ITN, one of the world's leading news and multimedia content companies. Under the terms of the new agreement, ITN will use AdHoc, blinkx's patented contextual advertising platform for online TV and video, to serve advertisements on the ITN website and its syndication partner sites, including Bebo.

Through AdHoc, ITN has already been effectively monetizing its premium news content on the blinkx.com network for over six months. During this time, ITN achieved a significantly better return, greater search volume, and higher monetization through blinkx than through other syndication partners.

AdHoc uses blinkx's patented speech-to-text transcription and visual analysis technology to understand video content more thoroughly and effectively than any other service today, and can therefore dynamically place the most pertinent advertising against it. The AdHoc platform offers media companies and advertisers a unique value proposition -- video advertising which combines the emotive power of TV promotion, with the relevance and utility of contextual search advertising.

The confluence of ITN's premium TV content, blinkx's extensive syndication network, and AdHoc's uniquely powerful targeting capabilities was a formula for success. By extending its partnership with blinkx, ITN aims to achieve similar returns by leveraging the AdHoc platform to deliver contextually relevant video advertising on its own website and across its distribution partner sites.

'We're thrilled to be broadening our relationship with ITN,' said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx. 'News content is one of the most popular categories of online video and there's clearly a tremendous opportunity for monetization. The success of our partnership with ITN is evidence that the blinkx AdHoc platform is a uniquely powerful solution for online video advertising today.'

'We've been delighted with the results of our partnership with blinkx and are looking forward to implementing the AdHoc technology on our site,' said Nicholas Wheeler, managing director, ITN On. 'blinkx AdHoc has proven that it can achieve significant monetization of our content, effective marketing for advertisers and, most importantly, a useful, non-disruptive experience for our audience.'

As a pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the most effective way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

Unlike other multimedia search engines that attempt to repurpose technology built for the Text Web, blinkx uses a combination of patented conceptual search, speech recognition, and video analysis software to efficiently find and qualify online video. Today, blinkx is the world's largest single index of rich media content on the Internet, with an index of over 26 million hours of searchable audio, video, viral and TV content, and more than 350 media partnerships including national broadcasters, commercial media giants, and private video libraries.
"Cultivating a user experience that's of the highest quality is a top priority at blinkx, and DNS plays a large role in ensuring quick and reliable responses," said Suranga Chandratillake, CEO and founder of blinkx. "We're pleased to work with NeuStar, whose UltraDNS Managed DNS and Traffic Management services enable us to access a powerful suite of global traffic management tools without expending additional capital."
By migrating to the UltraDNS Managed DNS Service, blinkx is able to benefit from the UltraDNS Traffic Management Services: SiteBacker, an advanced monitoring and failover service for critical enterprise systems and applications; Directional DNS, a geographic traffic shaping service that provides DNS responses based on geographic proximity; and Traffic Controller, a global server load balancing service that provides weighted load balancing of customer traffic across the Internet. These value-added services require no hardware deployment and, as with all UltraDNS Services, have 24/7 proactive monitoring and support.

gearing up for the launch of trans hijacking before the AGM next week perhaps?

chessplayer - 15 Sep 2008 22:53 - 145 of 6187

Considering that about 75% of 2 million shares traded were buys,a drop of 1.5 points seems to be out of order, bank woes or not!

chessplayer - 16 Sep 2008 08:19 - 146 of 6187

Here are a few common sense remarks that I gathered from "Storminnorman " on Interactive Investor that are quite pertinent to our current market situation.

" I have no problem with the fall in Blinkx share price.
The fall is nothing to do with blinkx but the general market and banks fall from grace, how stupid to give banks more billions of $$ to borrow and try to survive, banks only survive by loaning money, and as we see from the housing market, there is no money to loan.
In USA the problem must also be the banks cannot make money, if a bank has a problem and charges 10% it can pay off its past bad loans in time, if it is reduced to 2% or 3% then the bank cannot stand even a small problem.

What i like to do in a crashing market is look for companies that have cash in the bank [ blinkx being one company ] but there are others.
i do not like estate agents, i have been told some big estate agents are only selling one house a week, bricks are not needed as much, people are not keeping up insurance in houses, cars.
today a friend lost his job in a car sales room, he said no one is buying even second hand cars.

i expect more layoffs in different industries, and this means more people staying at home, working on computers watching more TV.
better for blinkx.

What i find annoying is the price of oil was $140 now its below the $100
and we are not seeing the fall at the petrol pumps.

this falling market it is easier to see which shares are advancing, have money in the bank, do not need to ask shareholders for money.

the USA DOW fell over 500 points today
it was not long ago the USA gave hundreds of dollars to each person in USA -now all gone=just more government debt=
the president has to give up office, no one in charge until after the US elections.
I see blinkx slightly lower, but its not blinkx fault for the fall =its just market conditions, luckily for once i have money to invest at the right time, i am not selling the shares i have in blinkx as i am in for the long term.

More info taken from Interactive Investor,

OK. So, as of March 2008 Blinkx had $39.4m in cash. Let us assume FOR THE SAKE OF CONSERVATISM that there are no revenues coming in the door. Next, in the 11 months covered in the annual report, Blinkx incurred operating costs (NB excl IPO costs) of $8,317k. Of these by far the two biggest categories are R&D at $3,171 and headcount at $4,775 (for 43 people). Now assume that headcount doubles to 86 (which is above consensus), annualised will be $10,418, and that R&D doubles annualised to $6,918. So together $17,336. Call it $20m per annum. THAT IS 2 YEARS WORTH OF CASH, under these extreme assumptions. So please people, do not let go of this iopportunity becuase you think the credit crunch is going to kill it....it will not.

The notice of AGM tells a story, if anything like other businesses I've followed.

Cambridge 9:30 am

1) Too far from London to be convenient.
2) too early in the day

This says "stay away" - and that's what I expect to do.
If directors have something good to tell they have the agm in London at a convenient time - so you can get there without having to rub-shoulders in the general Rush-hour . . .
Anyone living near, can they report the general "feel" . . . ?

Toya - 16 Sep 2008 17:49 - 149 of 6187

Quite agree Hangon - most inconvenient time of day, which is a pity as I would have liked to have gone to this one. Would appreciate feedback from anyone who does make it.

Still Waiting - 16 Sep 2008 18:02 - 150 of 6187

the main news will come pre AGM, a few weeks since we've had a contract now.

blinkx Launches Web-Based Version of Broadband Television Offering

BBTV in the browser fuses a high-quality TV experience with the interactive power of the Web, without software download

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. -September 18, 2008 - blinkx, the world's largest video search engine, today launched an evolution of its broadband television offering: blinkx BBTV will now be available without download, straight from your browser. Leveraging blinkx's patented speech and visual recognition technology, BBTV simultaneously delivers a high-quality television experience over the Internet, and links it to the universe of information on the Web, adding dimension and context to the viewer's experience. Now, BBTV is available in the browser, without any software download, integrating video into the fiber of the Web for true, full-screen Online Television. To try blinkx BBTV direct from your browser, visit http://www.blinkx.com/channelbrowser?quality=bbtv.

The Web is the largest repository of connected information in the world - on any subject and from myriad sources. BBTV delivers television over the Internet, but it also fuses that TV with the wealth of information on the Web, rather than appearing as just another layer floating above it.

As with the previous version of BBTV, the new Web-based release enables users to instantly and easily browse or interact with online sources related to the program they are watching straight from their browser, whether it's Google, Wikipedia, IMDB or other Web sites offering relevant information - from news and entertainment, to travel and sports.

'Delivering a Web-based version of blinkx BBTV was a natural evolution for us,' said Suranga Chandratillake, CEO and founder of blinkx. 'Advances in streaming technology and the pervasiveness of broadband have made software downloads an unnecessary obstacle for audiences. We're delighted to be able to now offer users our ground-breaking online television product directly through their browser.'

Delivering the same unique functionalities as the downloadable version, BBTV in the browser enables an unprecedented level of interaction with online television. blinkx's patented video indexing automatically creates a speech track of content within the video, making it easy for viewers to navigate literally word-for-word and jump to specific points in a program, simply by searching for a spoken word or name. While watching programs or movies on blinkx BBTV, viewers can instantly access features never before possible, including transcripts of the audio track and background information on everything from actors and personalities, to reviews and locations shown within the video. Alternatively, users can opt to sit back and watch the video full-screen, on-demand and in TV quality.

In coming months, blinkx will be adding dozens of additional channels and premium video content to the Web-based BBTV offering. BBTV is fully compatible with blinkx AdHoc, blinkx's contextual advertising platform.

As the pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the smartest way to search new forms of online content such as video. With more than 350 partners and 26 million hours of indexed video and audio content, including favorite TV moments, news clips, short documentaries, music videos, video blogs and more, blinkx uses advanced speech and visual recognition technologies to deliver results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.

What I'm waiting for is the confirmation of rumours that blnx is the partner with apple to power the tv downloads in the latest i phone to be launched soon.
