Well done
A few days back a distressed seller took it to lows, turned out to be RAB.
Their loss.
Hold tight for drilling in Kurdistan, their plot is near to Heritage and similar geology.
Due to start Q2.

Sterling Energy's large acerage in Kurdistan is closer to Heritage Oil than is Gulf Keystone, and also between Heritage acerage and the Kirkuk oIl fields.
Sterling have farmed out drilling to Addax, which will commence drilling later this year. Sterling says seismic surveys are very encouraging. with several surface sepages.
SEY could find one billion barrels ( possible ) ?
If oil rises towards $60 / barrel as OPEC want when the Economy improves ?
Oil in the ground valued at around $7 - $8 / barrel ( P2 Sweet light ) as usual ?
Sterling will take off.
Sterling like Gulf Keystone is a small co. and at 1.70p / share has great potential. I think SEY is a good risk to take over the next few months.

silly question .... if GKP's interim figures were published 25/9/08, why is there no announcement as to when finals will be released?

not wanting to cause a stampede ;-) but we've been told to chase these back upto 50p. Oppenheimer has been a forced seller and apparently has finished, they are also drilling adjacent to HOIL blocks. I'll find out more tomorrow evening but I'm also interested in other cos where Oppenheimer is selling down their holdings. AFR is a good example of what happens when a forced seller exerts the downward pressure triggering a wave of selling only for there to be a large rise back up. Looks good.

Biggest problem with this company is the Iraqi goverment and the Kurds(who have issued the licences,

I think i will have a small flutter on the strength of their Algerian projects, which more than cover the SP.

Should have added that as Kate states, forced seller finished which is creating a
lot of interest(post AFR). Some well respected posters write positively,i feel momentum is starting to gather which could see 15p?

CAD looks very interesting as well, well below nav, seems they've fallen out with their drill partner but fall looks massively overdone, ISAble as well. No thread on that so may create one in the morn, toodle pip.

Market report closing summary:
"Lower down the order oil tiddler Gulf Keystone (LSE:GKP) attracted attention as traders latched onto how close they are to drilling where Heritage (LSE:HOIL) have recently hit the jackpot, the shares were up 2p to 12.25p."

today's Oilbarrel presentation seems to have inspired no one!
either Oilbarrel is not rated much as a platform, or the presentation was just a re-hash of what was already known

Hi cynic.
oilbarrel is well supported, so that's not the reason.
I note that the sp was depressed prior to the conference presentation and is moving back up a little with over 3 million buys.
It's not about today, it's about the drill bit.
Spudding will be in around 3 weeks from my research as the rig is a new one, it's on site and the crew are training before drilling.
As a penny share this is by far and away the best value in respect of market cap of any other small companies in Kurdistan. (Sterling Energy for instance who will probably have to sell some more of their percentage of their license before they get to drilling in Q4 to make ends meet).
GKP have 75% and do not need to farm down any more for the 2 or more drills in the drilling campaign.
No, this one is for me, Addax and Heritage may offer more protection having stuck oil, but the seeps on GKP's license do indicate that their structures are quite likely to contain oil as well, I would hope at least as good as the others and flowing near to the same rate, Addax flowed at 44kbopd.
I have not put the house on it, but if it comes off, I could build an extension by next year.
All the best.
