Spaceman - 28 Jan 2005 23:56

CLOSED - THANKS to all customers for the last few years

Bluelady - 13 Apr 2007 15:04 - 14411 of 24230

Hi Socrates - delicious can I wash up your plate or do you have a dishwasher? Worse still don't say I was the only who emptied my fish and chips onto a plate and everyone else had theirs still in the paper.

Socrates - 13 Apr 2007 16:46 - 14412 of 24230

Bluelady, what a good example you are to us all. I shall make a last cup of tea before the end of the day, care to join me?

Bluelady - 14 Apr 2007 00:41 - 14413 of 24230

Hi Socrates-apologies for the delay I stopped using the computer before I saw your kind invitation. Have a lovely time at the NEC tomorrow. If you find a nice tea caddy for those tea bags please purchase it. Remember to pass the receipt onto optomistic who will kindly reimburse you for your troubles ;0).

Socrates - 14 Apr 2007 12:08 - 14414 of 24230

Bluelady. I must remember that you seem to be up and about after the witching hour. It's usually quite quiet about then.

I'm off now to a garden centre, the cafe patio needs brightening up a bit.

Bluelady - 16 Apr 2007 01:05 - 14415 of 24230

Hi Socrates- I assume you were buying the new lights especially for me due to the late hours I keep. A nice and touching thought, but I would have thought candles would have been more appropriate for me due to the fact that I burn candles at both ends, lol!!!

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 08:03 - 14416 of 24230

Bluelady
Far be it from me to comment upon what a lady does with candles. However, I must point out that by "brightening up" I was referring to a lack of colourful flora, and I am not talking margerine here.

Good morning to all, anyone interested in breakfast?

Bluelady - 16 Apr 2007 08:06 - 14417 of 24230

Hi Socrates,
Plants will be nice for the patio but which kind person will regularly water them!!!!

Thanks for the offer of breakfast :0).

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 08:09 - 14418 of 24230

I'll set up a drip-feed system Bluelady, no human intervention required. [:-)

Bluelady - 16 Apr 2007 08:13 - 14419 of 24230

That sounds good but I have loads of those types of systems which haven't worked. I also have me looking at the plant daily and it still lacks water, keels over and dies on me. So if you successfully acquire such a system I would like to buy one also .

Spaceman - 16 Apr 2007 08:14 - 14420 of 24230

Morning all from a nice and Sunny Hastings.

Last week at work before I have a weeks holiday, well a week off not much of a holiday, I have 2 OU exams next week and I am meant to do some revision !

Spaceman - 16 Apr 2007 08:15 - 14421 of 24230

Jeff, looks as though I will only be in Colombes for less than a day this week.

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 08:23 - 14422 of 24230

Bluelady, my system is virtually perfect.

Good morning Spacie. Best of luck with your studying, if you have any questions just ask, I'm sure that someone here can provide the information.

Not sunny here at present, it's as grey as a grey thing!

stockbunny - 16 Apr 2007 08:51 - 14423 of 24230

Morning - flowers on the porch are OK but mind my 6x4 cold frame with my lettuces in it...oh and the pot with my early tomatoes...oh and my runner beans tripod trough.... ;>)
Tea's on!
Thanks keaydian for putting my carrot in the bin Friday - I've fished it out ;>)

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 09:13 - 14424 of 24230

Bunny, there is a 2 acre garden out there, no danger of tripping over your cold frame. Just for you I have planted a large plot of carrots. Its in the part of garden with a 3ft fence around it. That is to keep out carrot fly, they only fly about 12" from the ground.

Spaceman - 16 Apr 2007 10:16 - 14425 of 24230

Socs are those carrot flies scared of heights?

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 10:20 - 14426 of 24230

I don't think so Spacie, but they know a thing or two about carrots, like they don't grow on trees.

Bluelady - 16 Apr 2007 10:28 - 14427 of 24230

Good morning stockbunny and Spaceman,

Socrates- with the aid of the internet I have been doing some research on carrot flies. Apparently, the adult fly locates carrots by a number of means, including scent. So there are two possibilities here, one is to peg their noses so they can't smell the carrots or that we all donate our perfume/aftershave to you and you dab it around the fence!!!

Spaceman - 16 Apr 2007 10:29 - 14428 of 24230

Socs, well I have to take your word for that, last time I asked a carrot fly about it he didnt even reply.....

Socrates - 16 Apr 2007 11:27 - 14429 of 24230

Time for elevenses, where is Bunny?

I went to the antique fair at the NEC and scored a resounding victory. Managed to come away without spending any money, apart from refreshments. I've never seen so many Auntie Wainrights in the same place all at once before. Some lovely items there, could have spent a fortune. If only I had one to spend!

stockbunny - 16 Apr 2007 11:38 - 14430 of 24230

I'm here! Actually you can combat carrot fly by interplanting onions as they hate the smell of those....OK lunch....aubergine bake or cottage pie.
