THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

The Hester thing is just "one" typical example of the many extremes of the "Money to the Top " culture (whilst the rest can go hang) that has developed in the UK over the last 33 years or so.

To celebrate tax filing deadline day:

The tax inspector was reading the story of Cinderalla to his little son. suddenly the boy interrupted him. "Daddy, when the pumpkin turned into a golden coach, would that be classed as income or a long term capital gain?"

Why do sharks not attack tax inspectors? Professional courtesy.

A man saw two white coated doctors searching in the flower beds. "Have you lost something?" "No. We're doing a heart transplant for a tax inspector and we want to find a suitable stone"

T i m,

It would appear to some, that some are greedier Bs. than others.

It has similarities to a doctor negotiating with a dying man about the size of his fee before he will take a tourniquet from around his neck.

-------------¬

Glad to see Cameron is keeping his end up at Brussels.
He is looking puffier and puffier or perhaps he is full of wind.

Europe signs up to German-led fiscal pact

(Reuters) - Chancellor Angela Merkel cemented her political ascendancy in Europe Monday when 25 out of 27 EU states agreed to a German-inspired pact for stricter budget discipline, even as they struggled to rekindle growth from the ashes of austerity.

The old ones are the best :-)

The difference between the short and long income tax forms is simple. If you use the short form, the government gets your money. If you use the long form, the tax advisor gets your money.

What's the difference between a taxidermist and a tax collector?
The taxidermist only takes the skin.

How do you know you've met a good tax accountant?
He has a loophole named after him.

It5 looks like the current stamps are a great investment. It seems that they are goi9ng up in price by 50% or so in a couple of months. I intend buying a large supply in the next week or two.

TANKER - 31 Jan 2012 12:43 - 14621 of 81564

TIM,

Good Idea.

Tanker,

Haven't a clue to "value".

Perhaps, OXFAM or Médecins Sans Frontières.

They would appreciate them.

TANKER - 31 Jan 2012 13:57 - 14623 of 81564

Tanks,
Why not stick them on preloved (probably get more and no commission to pay), and then give that to your chosen charity.

Thought you were a man of time and leisure Tanks?.. sure you don't mean lazy git?

Fred1new - 31 Jan 2012 16:49 - 14629 of 81564

It is good to see Cameron is seeing himself as "Lord and shepherd" of the EU.

He seems to be trying to lead them to a land they don't want to go.

They probably think it is a cliff.

Not even his own party are prepared to tag along, which is a pity in view of the last thought.

He certainly has a grandiose opinion of himself.

But when standing with his fellow pygmies he is quite tall.

Stan - 31 Jan 2012 16:52 - 14630 of 81564

You leave Cameron alone Fred.. I think he's doing just fine -):
