The current banking crisis explained by an Irishman
Young Paddy bought a donkey from a farmer for £100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the next day. The next day he drove up and said, 'Sorry son, but I have some bad news. The donkey's died.'
Paddy replied, 'Well then just give me my money back.'
The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I've already spent it.' Paddy said, 'OK, then, just bring me the dead donkey.'
The farmer asked, 'What are you going to do with him?'
Paddy said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.'
The farmer said, 'You can't raffle a dead donkey!'
Paddy said, 'Sure I can. Watch me. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'
A month later, the farmer met up with Paddy and asked, ' What happened with that dead donkey?'
Paddy said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at £2 each and made a profit of £898' The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'
Paddy said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his £2 back.'
Paddy now works for the Royal Bank of Scotland .

Greece bailout: Coalition 'to finalise' austerity deal
Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos is meeting coalition parties in an attempt to seal an austerity agreement to secure a new EU/IMF bailout.
The three parties were handed the draft after final touches were agreed between the PM and EU, ECB and IMF officials.
The accord is likely to include a 20% minimum wage reduction, pension cuts and 15,000 civil service lay-offs.

Skinny,
Great dead donkey post.
Aldwickk,
Re 'Never cast a clout until May is out'.
Must admit I have never heard of the archer firing arrows explanation before.
I always thought it referred to, 'Don't throw off warm clothing' till may is out, but you could be right.
As to Redknapp, 'Why would two men who had paid so many millions of pounds in taxes over the years try to concoct such an elaborate fiddle in order to save such a relatively small sum of money?
There has been many instances of people fiddling small amounts even when they are so rich (far richer than Redknapp) that the amounts were insignificant.
The reasons you have to ask is, why he would not have mentioned it to his accountant, or why the account was opened in his dogs name.
Mind you, a top legal team always helps.
Note..........I am a great fan of Redknapp as a manager.

http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/till-may-is-out.htmlSkinny, greek
Done a little research.
Q: An old English saying goes, "Never cast a clout until May is out." Does that refer to the month of May or to May blossoms?
A: "Ne'er cast a clout 'til May be out" refers to the month. Clout is from an Old English word for cloth or clothing, and the saying was a reminder not to be too quick to shuck the winter woollies(warm clothing) before the chilly days of May were over.

"Nobody who sat through all the evidence will be surprised at the jury's verdicts. The prosecution's case appeared to be flimsy at times. In particular, the prosecution never had an answer to a question that Redknapp and Mandaric asked over and over again. Why would two men who had paid so many millions of pounds in taxes over the years try to concoct such an elaborate fiddle in order to save such a relatively small sum of money? After an investigation which lasted nearly five years, both Harry Redknapp and Milan Mandaric have finally cleared their names."
Members of the Mafia similar to the law enforcement for years.
The reason maybe greed.

Greek PM Lucas Papademos has failed to secure the support of his coalition for a raft of new austerity measures, after more than seven hours of talks.

You have seen the Ken Dodd sympathy vote and a lot of people thought he was bound to be dead by now from his "heart condition".
Also, after that court case the sale of suitcases went up.
